just wait until the DLC. The Shadowlands are like a maze lol. But it’s worth it as the DLC bosses shit on the base game bosses.

I think I’m gonna stop with this character now without finishing the game, maybe I should play it properly instead of boss rushing lol
I’m also tired of unga bunga strength weapons so it’s time for a more skillful approach, backstabs are my bread and butter anyway, quickstep rapier build incoming

I think I’m gonna stop with this character now without finishing the game, maybe I should play it properly instead of boss rushing lol
I’m also tired of unga bunga strength weapons so it’s time for a more skillful approach, backstabs are my bread and butter anyway, quickstep rapier build incoming

Also for the Malenia fight I strongly recommend countering her bullshit flurry with either a shield w/ an enhanced ash of war like barricade shield (makes it so that blocking takes up basically no stamina) or an enhanced iframe counter like bloodhound step (super dodge) or vow of the indomitable (many more iframes than a light roll).

It's pretty much that one move that makes up 80% of the fight difficulty.

I knew you wouldn't miss it cuz it's required for the DLC but I was getting worried since you said you cleared the snow fields and there's a teleporter to his area there

But then again I don’t know much about weapons in this game. Going by the usual there aren’t many elite high dps str weapons

She actually can only be staggered out of a lot of attacks by heavy weapons so it's not the worst choice.

I always carry an enhanced shield in one of my left weapons slots for her fight, pretty much do a variation of this whenever she pulls out Waterfowl dance (the infamous attack Im sure you know now lol):
Avoiding Malenia's Waterfowl Dance (Barricade Shield, two dodges)

Basically block the first flurry (which is borderline undodgeable at close range for me) and then roll the next two. You could just block the whole thing but she heals too much.

There's other counters besides the ones I mentioned, I think the fight is meant to force you into experimenting with weapon arts.

Yeah rapiers are actually on the lower end of dex weapons in ER, heavily nerfed from DS2/3

Twinblades and curved swords are the best due to how fast powerstancing them procs status effects like bleed or frost or rot (one jump l1 is effectively 4 hits per input)

Daggers are kind of in the middle

Yeah a strength build while fun at times can be very cheesy, at the same time can put you at a disadvantage against fast bosses
But for the most part hyperarmor and stuns give you a different perception to how strong a boss actually is

Radahn for example was a tougher fight on dex build, first time I fought him took two tries which made him feel underwhelming despite the festival hype.
I'm alternating between the Nox sword for combat and Misericorde for crits, Bloodhound fang occasionally
Far more enjoyable than unga bunga rusted anchor lol. 2nd playthrough is where the gold is at
