Oda has had no respect for Kid since the middle of the Wano arc
I can give thousands of examples, but I will use the last difference of Oda's point of view
Before the defeat, Law says that he learned something from Yonko and uses powerful haki

Even Kid's performance was so weak that I am afraid from that chapter, Oda wants to remove Shanks from the story.
Let's hope it never comes back because not only will it be overshadowed by Zoro's masterpiece, it might even be overshadowed by Sanji's masterpiece.

He won't be pirate king
he can still be relevant as an ally to Luffy. He'll probably cripple the red hair pirates at the very least.
I just don't see the point of him sinking off Elbaf if he wouldn't be relevant in that arc. It would be like if after King knocked the BMP ship off the waterfall, BM just never appeared again.

That has nothing to do with Kid and everything to do with Shanks.
Oda even sacrificed an admiral for the sake of Shanks hype.
The fact Oda used Kid to hype up Shanks means that more likely than not, Oda will give Kid a W sometime in the future so that fans don't believe Kid is legitimately weak. Like how sometime after we got the above panels with GB, Oda had him beat Weevil.

That's Kid's subplot tho. He's continuously been picking fights with the RHP and every time he comes back, he comes back stronger. The first time, Beckman took his arm and he couldn't even see Shanks. The second time, he was a serious threat to the crew, but Shanks negged him.
If the trend continues, eventually he'll get a win. Doesn't necessarily mean he'll surpass Shanks. He'll probably defeat the RHP with help from the blackbeard pirates.
But Shanks does oppose Luffy in the race for One Piece. While saying that Kid will 1v1 Shanks before Shanks even gets a focus in the story, like a lot of Kid fans claimed, was always delusional(I even called them out on that before Kid lost). Claiming that Kid will do absolutely nothing to the RHP is the same as the people who said Kid and Law wouldn't beat BM and that Kid would be irrelevant in wano.
Yeah, Kid isn't as relevant as Blackbeard in his rivalry to Luffy. But Oda has never portrayed him as irrelevant. Clearly the his rivalry with the RHP is going somewhere.
