We all know Kinemon isn’t dead

We all know Luffy is gonna survive

We all know Kiku isn’t dead

Why does Oda keep doing this? This arc alone has been nothing but fake tension. Hell, he even did it twice with Kinemon in the span of 20 chapters lol. It’s just getting boring at this point lol
Wait until you see Plotcage v2.0 aka I will drop the island on the capital... :josad:

I personally believe Kiku, Kanjuro and Kinemon's blows will be fatal but the fact that so many people don't trust Oda when it comes to deaths is a testament to how bad he can be in that aspect. A war arc with no deaths? Who does that?!

In a vacuum this raid would be tense, but it isn't solely because we know of Oda's history with fakeouts. There's nothing wrong with the writing itself for the most part imo, but his unwillingness to keep characters dead is subconsciously affecting us all

lets not conclude that early about kiku... and Kinemon as well... it sure will be devastating for the allies and sanji and zoro... sanji in particular as he brought Kinemon to the crew and took responsibility over him..

i believe kin is out of commission... with kanjuro and kiku kicking the bucket

and yuh lol luffy is gon jump back 2 fold... coz @Luffy is the mc

To be fair, we did see a bloke get crucified and turned into Swiss cheese. So there is a small possibility that Oda might grow a pair and finally kill off some useless characters.

I sincerely doubt it though. Only just recently, Pound D. Pound made a miraculous cover story recovery from a supposedly inescapable situation.

The explanation..... :kayneshrug:

Even if Oda does start killing fictional fools, this fandom has suffered from experiencing so many fake out deaths that rarely anybody believes that any character is in legitimate mortal peril anymore.

Oda's inability to let his characters die in peace is well known. In reality though things are much better now than they were 15 years ago, yet most people dont realise that.
In the east blue saga no one died. In arabasta no one died(not even mr 3 or pell). In skypiea enel burned dozens of people but somehow everyone survived(well lighting and fire cant do shit in one piece world so...)The same goes for ennies lobby, thriller bark, sabaody etc...
It was not until the paramount war that we witnessed the death of two important characters(ace and whitebeard).
Since then we had two characters die in Punk Hazard(vergo and monet), one in whole cake island(pedro) and otama's "father" in early wano. If kanjuro, kiku and asura stay dead i will be pretty satisfied with this arc too(i think more people will die too by the end of the arc). One piece gets darker and darker, year by year, so the only thing left to do is.. to trust Oda.

Like others have said Kiku and Kanjuro might actually be dead, but even if they are any emotional impact the fan base would have had is neutered because we simply don’t believe Oda has it in him to pull the trigger. People are absolutely absurd on this board for calling Oda a bad writer, he’s amazing overall. The good far outweighs the bad. One Piece wouldn’t be the success it is if he wasn’t good at his job. But his fake out deaths and inability to kill characters and keep them dead is his most glaring flaw that does rob the story of its stakes. Now even if he kills a character he’s in danger of us not believing it. Finding out a week later that they really are dead will never be the same as feeling that true in the moment gut punch.

If Oda is brave enough to kill Strawhats and the alliance left and right in the hands of Kaidou and BM, all this fake tension feel would never happen. Now i'm just forcing my self to search for what's left of the sense of danger. Luffy being knocked out for the 100th time after tanking Boro Breath and Ragnarok?

Nah it's plot restriction again, Oda made him forget rubber- internal destruction fusion he had actually perfected in Udon training, and also nah Oda just delayed him from perfecting CoC-G5. Nah Jack is fine after hours in the sea so how Luffy who is far stronger will get any danger.

And also nah, his friends are plenty. In the sea? Jimbei can send whale sharks as big as cities to save him. His alliance like Law's subordinates can send submarines to save him. His Strawhat Armada can be already here if notified days ago. Fishmen Alliance from Fishman Island can...etc etc

personally i like that. I literally felt this way for ace, the disbelieve is real even 3 chapters after he died.
