Well England back then were fucking tanks but slow af. So they relied on tactics, stamina and "skill". Basically like Croatia today
Rooney/Modric can run 3 games in one, Gerrard/Brozovic and Lampard/Majer can kick a ball from 20 meters like its nothing. Terry/Lovren and Ferdinand/Gvardiol were fucking machines in back line.
England today isnt as physically imposing or "skill based" but rather focused on speed. And it shows
No one thinks of speed when you say England.

England lack passion some of team members have club rivalry over playing for the England that could hamper things.
Team with All star dont necessarily translate to winning games in national team. Requires good personal bonding, patriotism, will to give everything. England definitely lacks in this area. I dont think they will ever win if they dont have this. Having skills matter but play and die for shirt is on another level.

2026 is quite far. It's clear he won't retire now because it's premature but I really don't think he would be in next wc when he will be 42.
Also, Ronaldo is doing everything wrong IMO. He is playing as forward and most of the time he stays totally in front to score. And,his focus is still on goals. He needs to accept he isn't at his peak anymore
He needs to stop playing like this because not only this affects his play but also affects team mates - they focus on making ball for him instead of playing their own game.
