I think as a Kaido fan you're better off not seeing it. Kaido's role is over as is his portrayal while Shanks is still being gassed.

Oda will just make Shanks shit on Kaido

I doubt it because unless Kaido has Azheimer he wouldnt have made the statement that no one can beat him or only wank Oden or say stuff like this was the first time in decades that hes gotten serious to Luffy if Shanks did anything remotely to him.

I actually like his backstory. It was just to short and not alot of substance. His character wasn't even bad he just had no motivation and was a bit generic.

It was obvious kaidou holds Shanks in high regard. That's why he included shanks and nit big mom unless that's just Oda being a shithead again.

He's a trash character with a trash backstory and a trash personality.

The only thing good about him is his design and fighting style.

The rest can go to the garbage bin.

Oda did him supremely dirty with that piece of shit flashback he has gotten.

I had immense expectations for his character but I was left majorly disappointed, heck he wasnt even the main character of his own arc we barely fucking saw him until Onigashima.

Fuck Kaido and fuck Oda.

I hope Lolda never dropped a ball on another character like he did HARD with Kaido and the Beast Pirates. We could have gotten a GOATed villain and a GOATed crew smh.

Ngl the worst part is the fact that Oda blatantly just didn't care about Kaidou's flashback
Like we know he's capable of great backstories and flashbacks even post ts, Law, Senor Pink and Kuma are proof of that.
But he wanted to wrap Wano up so bad that he just gave Kaidou like 4 pages of backstory and called it a day.

Is the closest OP's ever gotten to Crocodile tier villain writing. Everyone else is a cartoonish evil character (Enel was genocidal, Lucci is a serial killer, Doflamingo is carried by charisma, otherwise he's exactly like Kaido).

So I'll give him kudos for that. Oda just fumbled with the landing. Cause "A world of war and equality" is the dumbest thing.

That quote was one of the biggest cop-out moments in Wano. When it was Kaido’s time to finally explain why he is such a generically evil idiot, he couldn’t even give a remotely satisfying answer. All we get was “you wouldn’t understand!”

Like imagine if this was any other villain's motivation. Why was Doflamingo erasing families and manipulating the world governments? “Oh you wouldn’t understand. Stop asking questions you dumb child.”

Why was Arlong racist against humans? “You wouldn’t understand, you dumb child.”

Why is Akainu such a hardcore Justice devotee? “You wouldn’t understand, you dumb child.”

Why is Blackbeard plotting to become the king of the world? “You wouldn’t understand, dumb child.”

This vague non-answer that treats One Piece fans as being as dumb as they actually are was one of the worst moments to Kaido’s character in Wano. We finally get a moment where it looks like Oda might explain Kaido the Schizo’s motivations, his child is literally screaming in his face pleading to understand him, and instead we get one of the most insulting answers I’ve ever seen.

Don’t you dare compare this utter drivel to Crocodile. You owe everyone who read this post an apology lol.

Not every character needs a long, super detailed backstory. Kaido is a juggernaut type character that absolutely doesn't need a very complicated backstory, imagine how anticlimactic it would feel if we got a 10 chapter long backstory seconds before Luffy lands his finisher.

But why does a juggernaut 1v1 king type of character need a super detailed backstory? I think one of the coolest things about Kaido is how simple his motivations are, and how he brute forced his way through every problem in his life, and yet he makes a master planner like Doflamingo soil his pants.
