Powers & Abilities Gandhi gorosei is the true WSS

#61
So Zoro is supposed to become the WSS ever. Can we know his dream is fulfilled after he beats Mihawk? No.

Some might argue the Gorosei are mere politicians who have nothing to do with strength. Then what are these scars doing on these fragile old men?

And how come they are so nonchalant in the presence of an enemy who's supposedly a top 5 character he's not btw
You can argue he's a snitch and all but that still doesn't explain their cold attitude, two are even giving him their back. They literally don't care.

Ghandi gorosei specifically has been hyped up for wielding a katana, which after Wano you can assume to be the Shodai Kitetsu, one of the 12 supreme blades and the sword that wields the strongest curse.

The only 2 main characters on the path to attain fame & strength are Luffy & Zoro. At one point we thought Luffy has to surpass Roger but then Joyboy happened.
Same can be said about Zoro. Mihawk is merely a stepping stone in the path of godhood Ryuma attained.
Although Oda trolled the viewers by comparing Luffy with Ryuma, that was simply a parrallel concerning his reputation as the guardian of Wano.
In reality we know that Ryuma is connected with Zoro, he's hailed as the god of the blade and eventually marimo should reach this level. Many analogies have already been set in stone, whether it's their pre-ts interaction, their looks or observations made by third parties.

What does Ghandi have to do with this? Well first off his design indicates he's originally from Wano. He's the only gorosei not wearing a suit which is to be expected from a hardcore samurai of legendary status. He doesn't hold the WSS title as it would be absurd for someone of his political status to be involved with mundane fame and titles held by what's pretty much considered plebeians.

We know Ryuma protected Wano from outside invaders but also from Wano nobility too. To be able to reach such an esteemed position in the government, Ghandi must have been Wano royalty in the past. Oda also highlights this by having him comment on the Wano situation.

He's the only possible candidate who can eventually confirm to the reader that Zoro surpassed all swordsmen in history. That will happen by shedding light on Ghandi's past and how at some point he rivalled Ryuma and fought him to a stalemate or something of the sort. In the bigger picture Mihawk is simply his master who helped him reach this point. Right now there shouldn't be a huge gap between the two.

I already made a post on why Mihawk will defeated before reaching Raftel. This leaves Ghandi as Zoro's final swordsman to be defeated. It's not a weird move to sideline Mihawk for Ghandi as the gorosei will eventually be the final villains who have also been hyped for so long.

I don't think Zoro's dream will be undermined in this regard. WSS title fight is between Zoro and Mihawk, not Zoro and Gandhi.

Heck, considering the fact Lolda casually dropped the Nidai plotline in Wano, who's to say Zoro and Gandhi will even meet each other? Let alone fight?

If Gorosei are returned to their prime, then they are for Luffy's rivals like Law and Kidd or important leaders (aka Lolda's pet projects) like Cryhoshi and Momoron to fight.

Mihawk is certainly stronger
So old rusty Gorosei > Mihawk > Shanks?

Nah. Both Mihawk and Shanks are stronger. Again, it wouldn't make sense for Zoro to pursue a fake persona his whole life. Mihawk is the undisputed WSS, especially since Mihawk himself shows interest in being surpassed, hence not clinging to that title. And given one of the Gorosei turned pale as Shanks and Whitebeard made contact, it doesn't sound like they are overpowered individuals.

Nothing different from the PK title being the beginning of Luffy’s dream. These matters don’t have to be absolute.
It is hard to imagine now, it is merely a speculation after all. The problem is how will Zoro become the world’s strongest swordsman ever, how willsurpassing Mihawk achieve that. Oda could possibly ditch that and stick with WSS but I have a hard time seeing it.

And given one of the Gorosei turned pale as Shanks and Whitebeard made contact, it doesn't sound like they are overpowered individuals.
How does that have anything to do with their strength? They are politicians who maintain the balance in the world, two yonko teaming up is not to be taken lightly especially if you understand how this balance actually works.

You are overthinking it

He's one of the highest ranking people of the world's power that rules the world. Why wouldn't he have a top tier sword just because? Why would one of the highest powers in the world have a shit sword when they have resources to get top tier swords?

Hitetsu had a named sword as well and he did jack shit with it.

Maybe but it is a speculation of how marimo will become the strongest swordsman ever.
Swordbros don’t understand that this actually hurts my agenda, anyone with a brain can see that Mihawk will defeated before Zoro fights an admiral, so not fighting yet another stronger opponent is good for admiral agenda but doesn’t really make sense.

There's a difference between a named sword and a saijo
Saijos which only top tiers are shown to have

Again, you are overthinking. Gorosei aren't a secret or anything.

Characters in this story can sense power. Sengoku nor Akainu ever noticed anything special about Gorosei. People after knowing gorosei still call Admirals celestial dragons' strongest fighters and the only reason why they rule the world.

We have no idea when Mihawk will be defeated. With this whole cross guild bs, it's probably Oda just giving Mihawk and old characters something to do in the story so that they would not be just in void until EoS.

Mihawk is an empty character so it's impossible to tell when he will do anything in the story or what he even do besides job to Zoro.
Mihawk could very well job offscreen to someone. Or WG could hire cross guild to work for them so that way Zoro would fight Mihawk or something.

No one said a scar makes one stronger you pulled that out of nowhere, it only implies they're combatants not simple politicians.
Being a combatant makes you stronger than the average fodder, and it's the obvious implication for the Elders being somewhat relevant in combat —hence why nobody addresses Riku Dold as end of series material as a fighter. Even then, scars wouldn't make them combatants, you don't need to be the one fighting to get one, just to be the one attacked.

Why is being in god land relevant, they're meters away from one of the strongest people in the world
And what makes them so sure Shanks won't try to do something funny lol
Because they know Shanks? It's about personality. Since day one we've seen that Shanks is a reasonable, relaxed guy who won't just snap out of the blue. Even after actually clashing with Whitebeard, Marco was sure Shanks wasn't the type of guy to act stupid so everything was expected to be fine even though the skies were breaking apart. Just don't try to turn character dynamics into power levels, please. Everybody pretty much treats Shanks like "well, it's okay because it's you"; guess why?

What do you know about the pinnacle of swordsmanship?
I know that the only two swordsmen in this whole universe confirmed to be the strongest, who also are the only two swordsmen with a "rise to the top" kind of goal alongside Zoro, both happen to have a black blade. Between one "WSS with a black blade" and "WSS without a black blade", it's basic narrative that the former holds more weight than the latter as final milestone.

How is it not a certain truth? They already know about this fruit but called it a legend because it hasn't awakened for centuries upon centuries. The blonde one seemed unsure and addressed the other 2 for answers.
And what do you intend to prove with this, exactly? Again, they state it was considered a legend even for them because that's how unknown it is, that not even some of most wise characters in the verse were sure about its existence.

"Even to us" nowhere implies they've been living for centuries. They are comparing their lives to a 800 year timespan because they should know everything about it, yet it's such a secretive information that even they were doubting the truth behind the legend.

How would this fishman know tho? The navy is the face of the government for a reason.
We can’t know if Sengoku or Akainu sensed something or not, if they already met them before there’s no need to state it

Zoro will be the WSS by the time Luffy is the PK, nothing else makes sense. I state my reasons in a quote at the end of OP.

This was my first statement you're basically chasing your tail lol

Because they know Shanks? It's about personality. Since day one we've seen that Shanks is a reasonable, relaxed guy who won't just snap out of the blue. Even after actually clashing with Whitebeard, Marco was sure Shanks wasn't the type of guy to act stupid so everything was expected to be fine even though the skies were breaking apart. About personality? Lmfao do they happen to be his mother or something
He's an enemy regardless of what you think, having him sit meters away from you without protection, especially when you know how strong he is, is not something you do nonchalant. He's a pirate who runs a band of thugs at the end of the day.

Wouldn't argue it's so basic. Here's some basic english, 12 supreme blades > 21 great blades.

You lost me here what is your point exactly
They know about the awakening, they know it hasn't happened for centuries.
"They are comparing their lives to a 800 year timespan because they should know everything about it"
A phenomena that happened 800+ years ago, it's a legend even to us, although we are only 80 years old just like 3% of the human population. Does that make sense to you

How would this fishman know tho? The navy is the face of the government for a reason.
Because WG is not a secret. Even a supposedly a "secret force like CP9 and CP0" are known to the public.

Gorosei were never said to be a secret. Otherwise they would never even interact with Akainu or Sengoku nor even those low ranking marine officers that come to greet them.
We can’t know if Sengoku or Akainu sensed something or not
You cannot be serious. rookie Luffy can tell someone is strong just by meeting them first time but Sengoku or Akainu can't tell Gorosei are top tier from having regular meetings with them?
if they already met them before there’s no need to state it
....what?
Zoro will be the WSS by the time Luffy is the PK, nothing else makes sense. I state my reasons in a quote at the end of OP.
Again, it's all headcanon. Not all of Strawhat dreams will come before Luffy's.

Nami can't possibly ever complete a world map.
It's theorized that All Blue can only found after finding one piece, which comes right after Luffy's dream. Robin's dream can only come true after finding one piece and reading the history, which technically means her dream comes after Pirate King.

Their existance is known but nothing about their powers

They can but let me rephrase it, even if they did there's no reason to state it the reader, especially if they already met them offscreen a long time ago, like when they first held the position for example.

It is not, tho I would argue how important that is. For example why is Shusui a black blade yet is considered one of the 21 grades, or Roger & Whitebeard having 12 supreme but not a black blade. Or should you have both? But then again Mihawk is not on Roger's level, not in feats nor in portrayal. There are details we still don't know.
I’m sure Oda will give us the reason as to why black blades are important he won’t miss with that at least. Personally I have mihawk over roger sure not In feats yea but portrayal all the way .
