Speculations Garps beat Rocks 1v1

A lot of people assumed Garp and Roger double teamed rocks for this reason they put Rocks on a pedalstool I myself thought this too until I reread chapter 957 and Sengoku's exact words are Roger and Garp team up to break apart the rocks pirates not Rocks himself they also put him on a pedalstool because he lead people who became yonko caliber fighters

But we habd to remember God Valley was 38 years ago kaido was 19 20 at most big mom was 31

In chapter 957 Brannew said they are many times stronger now then they where back then to be honest Kaido was at best Doffy level back then big mom not much stronger

Garp got the title hero for beating Rocks while Roger took down Whitebeard

This fight was the start of the Whitebeard, Roger Rivalry

Big Mom, Kaido and Shiki while they would later become powerful pirates at that point in history they where barely out if mid tier let alone top/high tier.

That's what I believed happen

Rocks didn't 2v1 Garp and Roger

Garp won 1v1 fair and square

Granted Rocks may not have even been a thogujt at that time but there's been enough time to retcon that statement

It's heavily implied that Roger fought Xebec, as Sengoku says he was perhaps Roger's most formidable rival and Garp doesn't like to talk about it. I personally doubt that Roger fought him alone, but if there was anyone to 1v1 Xebec, that would be Roger.

I agree! All we can do is speculate ass we don’t know what happened. But what I think is the most plausible is the below.

Garp needed to team up with the Roger pirates to defeat them and Garp was the one to stop evil that day.

Garp fought and defeated Xebecs. Roger and his crew fought the rocks pirates, as Garp didn’t have strong marines under him to help him fight them. I assume the WG didn’t want to actively declare war to rocks same as they do not do it to Yonkous. Meaning Garp acted without permission.

As for the Roger-xebec rivalry. All pirates are rivals as they are out on the see to become Pirate King.
Luffy, Kid, Law all are rivals. This does not mean they actively fought.

I think garp and Bogard was beating up everybody else and Roger fualt by himself atleast partially. The question is why wb big mom and I think Kaidou were shaking in their boots because of Garp. Was it because he beat their captain or did they feel the fist of love themselves.
