Chapter summary thanks to jeeswag and TKC :

Kanki:
The chapter begins where the last one left off with Kanki stabbing the one guy and killing him. He throws the knife at another guy and slices another one's leg saying the sword is dull implying that's why his leg wasn't complete cut off. Then Kanki strikes him down as the other children say he's so strong that he took down 4 guys already and they see that only one man remains. The bandit says they'll all die to which Kanki asks why he's bluffing when they have the clear advantage in numbers despite being children. The bandit says to not underestimate an adult and Kanki says 4 of them are already done for and says he'll kill the one who's choking. As he sticks his sword in the bandit's mouth the bandit asks him to wait and Kanki says that's probably what the children who were killed said too and he cuts thru the bandit's head. The last bandit tries to resist but Kanki throws a knife at his head and the rest of the kids stab the bandit saying it's revenge for the other kids.

The kids are astounded that they won against 5 adults but Shio is upset with Kanki. She says even if these guys are dead the other bandits will come to kill them all with their strength and numbers. They won't be able to protect the children. She calls Kanki selfish and that he can only think about himself. The bandit on the ground laughs and says she's right and that their family knows they're there and that they don't forgive traitors. He says they won't simply die and Kanki simply kills him. He then asks where his thanks is for saving Shio. Shio says he's spouting nonsense and Kanki says it doesn't matter and says they're all weird. It's weird that for them getting robbed became a norm and that's not right. Shio says they're weak and Kanki says to leave it all to him.

HSU:
Naki asks what kind of strategy they used to win and Shio says that they didn't use any strategy. They simply killed them before they could be killed. The Nanpo family were truly big and because of that the children easily snuck into their territory where there were lots of children and killed their leader while he was sleeping. It seems like Kanki snuck something into their drinks so all the others were ina deep sleep so it was easy to do. Shin asks if they really took out a whole family just as children and Shio says no because again they were a giant family. However, they weakened them a lot and Naki says there's no way they would've been left alone and that search parties should've been sent out to kill them. Shio says he's right and because of that they had to leave their hideout that brought them a peaceful life. When Naki asks again about the ones who came after them Shio says simply killing them wouldn't have stopped them but that's when Kanki did something.

Flashback:
A kid runs to the group saying they need to follow him and that Kanki did something. They get to Kanki's location where he ripped apart a few bandits' bodies and hung them on trees. All the kids freak out and asks what happened. Kanki says he found out that the intestine inside a human body is really long and tells the rest to come check it out. The others refuse saying he's not right in the head. Kanki says that's right and that they need to do stuff this out of the ordinary to make others avoid coming close. When Shio responds Kanki says those with no strength must use their heads if they cannot live in peace thru normal methods. They must do stuff that no one else would do. Shio asks if this is how they must survive and Kanki says it is and that it's all so no one among them will be hurt again. All the kids agree to go along with this plan.

HSU:
Naki is shocked that this was how the Saki clan began. The Saki clan kept brutally murdering everyone who chased after them and they all began to get used to doing things like this. Naki asks about those who gave chase and Shio says they eventually stopped coming because they killed a lot of them and the Saki clan began to be viewed as not human. It was as Kanki said. One Saki clan member tells Shin that the name "Saki" came from him and a story that his grandpa used to tell him about ghosts that Kanki says sounded good. Shin tells him that he can't tell who the Saki member is even if they say it was them.

Cho interrupts saying they told them the story of how the Saki clan came to be but didn't answer Naki's question. The question of Kanki's rage. He says to answer that they have to share the story of how Kanki attacked the man who injured Cho's face.

No break next week!

Still his childhood is a mystery....hope we will learn about his origin in the end
he is strong and very skillful warrior beside his cruelty.
he must have been under training or part of army .

i think he was from a small kingdom that got destroyed recently maybe he was soilder there.

also karen as his sister it could be possible
if they were part of small kingdom between qin chu
then after it's conquered they split karen went to chu and kanki to qin ?!

I'm surprised that he reached Gian first after moving in different direction and taking round trip while Riboku even after emergency signal from Gian couldn't reach first...

Hara is making it too easy for Kanki while trolling Riboku again.
:myman:

not complaining 😏
but if this is the arc end

then it's really a soft defeat for kanki
yep he lost many but Riboku failed to kill him and lost gian as well.

Chapter summary and fan made translation from TKC :

HSU:
The story continues from when Cho mentioned how they need to tell the story of what happened to him if they're going to answer where Kanki's rage comes from. When they ask why Kanki bothered to deal with that, and make guesses like revenge, the Saki clan say that was the first night they realized what the rage Kanki had spilling out of him was. Even now that rage is probably stronger than it was before.

Flashback:
Kanki leads the Saki toward the noble's estate. The members are looting everything they can and say there's too much so they probably won't be taking everything. They look for Kanki and find him outside stabbing a servant. The servant tells Kanki where the noble's room is located and asks to leave him alive. Kanki cuts into him. The noble wakes up from his sleep tied up to his bed by the Saki clan. Kanki says that what's about to happen to him will be like what he did to others and starts burning the noble's face.

Shio runs in and asks what Kanki is doing when they only came to steal the goods. Kanki says that wasn't the case for him because he came to kill this man and tells Cho to watch as he does to the noble like what he did to Cho. Shio tells him to stop and says that something like this is meaningless. Another member says to kill him already because they're going to be caught. Kanki asks them what meaning is. This man burned the Cho's face when he couldn't do anything. The girls have permanent wounds on their bodies. Others have skin peeled from their bodies. One even had their chest ripped out and had to watch as it was fed to some dogs. He asks if there's even a need for meaning when dealing with people who do stuff like that and continues to burn the noble.

Kanki says he told them that the time of stealing is ending and it's time to get it back. One member asks what he's talking about and asks if he's planning on getting revenge for all of them. Kanki explains that there are those who stand at the top as idiots, those who stand opposite from them at the bottom, and those who live right in the middle of those two. Those who are at the bottom might think that revenge is something that must be targeted at those at the top, however, the truth is the rage of those who live at the bottom must be targeted at the ones who live in the middle.

Everyone is shocked and says the regular citizens have done nothing wrong to them. Kanki says that's right, they didn't do anything. However, in terms of numbers those in the middle make up most of the population and it's because they're not doing anything that the world's structure isn't changing. It's not a small deal but a big one and Kanki says it's not even enough for them to lose their skin and beg because they're so trash.
Shio says that Kanki's rage is directed at all those who aren't at the bottom, essentially targeting his hatred at the entirety of the world.

HSU:
As Shin's about to ask more questions a report comes in saying there's news from outside. When Shin asks if the Zhao are already here the soldier says that Kanki and his troops are on their way to their location. At Kanki's location they are given a report that says Gian castle has been sighted and that the flag on top of the castle is the Qin flag like how Kanki predicted. Marron and everyone else are shocked and Kanki chuckles.

Ten calls for Shin from the bottom of the castle and says Kanki's on his way. The Saki members say it's good he's still alive and one tells the leader that it's as Kanki promised. Cho tells Shin that it's unfortunate but their talks must end here, to which another member says they said too much and if Kanki finds out they're all dead. Naki asks for them to answer one more thing before they leave and asks what's become of this woman named Shio. The Saki say that she died and after that Kanki left and started his own family. That, and he went from becoming the King of the Bandits to the King of the Darkness. Shin says that's nonsense calling Kanki a king of anything and Cho says he's been a king from a long time ago and Shin says he won't accept it. The clan leader says that's enough and that the conversation they had doesn't matter much since they're still in a bad situation. However, she's sure that with Kanki's reentry the tides will change again in a big way.

For Kanki losing 1000 or 100K doesn't matter as long as he can achieve his target.
Same went in Eikyuu though in this current scenario he really dumped too much just to satisfy Riboku and keep him believing that he won the battle. Lol

Shin continues to be the MVP of the arc.
  • Slew General Ryuu Fu at the Siege of Atsuyo in defence of Great General Kan Ki
  • Broke Ri Boku's cage during the Battle at Gian and heroically saved the Gaku Ka Army from annihilation
  • Successfully took the fortress city of Gian in a desperate, undermanned and under-resourced Siege of Gian
And now he welcomes the Commander in Chief of the campaign to safety.

At this point, as far as I am concerned, Hara is past the point of credibly keeping Shin in command of a mere 15,000 men. He has proven himself many times over, across many battles and campaigns. Shin is not just a scarcely rivaled warrior; he is a truly talented military commander and gifted leader of men.

Shin can be trusted with the command of a 30~50,000 strong army. It's time.

Shin has grown so much that him having command of a mere 15,000 just isn't incredible anymore. Certainly not after besting a cage of Ri Boku's making and managing to take Gian with the tattered remnants of the HSA and GKA. Even accounting for the fact he and his peers were on a path to maximise their maturation to the point of withholding promotions at various points - we're 730+ chapters in. Shin has been a full-fledged general for nearly 2 years. Not only is it appropriate for him to command greater numbers of men, the story kind of demands it at this point, in my view anyway.

Numbers are as relevant to generals as they are to any commander. The higher number of troops, i.e. responsibility, correlates with higher standing and recognition of skill, talent and seniority. Qin's inferior numbers contributed massively to their devastating losses at Gian. In a hypothetical scenario where the Q3 were promoted to command 30,000 men each after Eikyuu, i.e. a year after their promotions to general, then Kan Ki would've had command of more men at Gian. An additional 40,000 troops to make it 310,000 Zhao vs 180,000 Qin would've been a hell of a lot less dire because Shin and Mou Ten would actually have big enough armies to move troops around and commit to more diversified strategy and tactics.

The Seika Army was bigger than the HSA and GKA combined (and entered after they had already sustained heavy losses). If Shin and Mou Ten had a combined 60,000 troops instead of the paltry 25,000 they had to work with, I have no doubt they would've had a much easier time punching through and who knows what else they could have done? Perhaps Ri Boku would've been forced to divert more troops to contain the HSA and GKA and made himself or his cage vulnerable that way?

I'm not sure how things would've gone differently at Gian if Shin and Mou Ten commanded more troops, but I do know arming talent like that with more troops would only have improved things for the Qin.
