Does she? I can’t even tell what the fuck is happening during half of Kyoukai’s action scenes. She’s just spinning like a damn helicopter propeller while characters just can’t seem to actually hit her. Approximately zero of her fights and battles have been interesting, and if they are its usually because of other characters who are also present.

The Kyourei arc was what broke me. I will remind you how abysmal the resolution to that arc was.

Kyoukai bet the life of the entire Hi Shin Unit (yes Rei would have slaughtered them all if Kyoukai’s plan failed) on the fucking assumption that Kyourei’s best friend had said something to Rei right before she died that was capable of shattering Rei’s entire psyche, but that Rei had PTSD buried such a world-shattering statement so deeply within her subconscious that she had forgotten about it,

And this shit fucking worked. No, I’m fucking done lol. And mind you I was even willing to accept that she brought Shin back from the fucking dead after apparently forgetting that she could raise motherfuckers from the dead and only remembered she could do so when it happened to Shin.

It wasn’t like Shin had taken any body-destroying wounds or died of bloodloss, he just sort of ran out of life lmfao so his death was always weird to me to begin with.

…oh god, the Kyourei arc was so awful that I’m actually defending Kyoukai raising a motherfucker from the dead lmfao.

@Owl Ki has my favorite quote on Kyoukai, and I can’t find it so I’ll paraphrase: In a manga where the spiritual can be written off as a quiet whisper or a quick shadow in the corner of your vision, Kyoukai resurrects a man from the dead. Lol

I still maintain that before EOS, Kyoukai will remember that she already learned how to unify China as a child, but she simply forgot how to do so and won’t remember how until Shin actually needs to unify China. Lol

I feel like she would at least consider the possibility of some contingency plan considering this is literally Riboku we are talking about. She really thought he would allow himself to enter some low tier fortress only to buy time before his inevitable capture?

I’m not really sure if an escape tunnel is that unheard of but I guess this goes to show how inexperienced she truly is still.

Riboku was in sight and they did try to get to him - that however failed. The latest they should have given up on him, was when they reached the small fortress. They were too focused on chasing Riboku, not thinking about WHO they are blindly chasing right now. They have faced Riboku more than enough to understand that he wouldn't make such a risky move without a plan B. I mean this guy planned years ahead and build a ''Great wall of China'' lmao
No way they believed Riboku would box himself in, in a little-easy to take over fortress.

Yeah, I don't care about the sweating, that is just Hara being Hara with how he portrays certain characters reacting to stuff. Sweating doesn't break the laws of physics of this manga. Moving faster than the human eye can perceive in a manga filled with barely superhuman individuals kinda does. When nearly all important characters fight on horseback, Kai is faster than the feckin horse.

Ten also never subjected me to multiple dumb subplots involving a clan of Naruto ninjas that illegally immigrated to Kingdom.

I love Kingdom, I really do and I adore the character cast but I cannot help but notice how the quality takes a hit every single time that there is a focus on either Kai or the Shiyuu in general. It is like both of these things walked out of a different manga and accidentally ended up in Kingdom.

In a world where assassins are generally above average folk that dick on unarmed politicians, the Shiyuu produce super duper uber soldiers.

In a world where strong warriors lead their trusted subordinates to battle and fight together to achieve victory, Kai can just casually swallow elite units whole.

In a world where the supernatural is something that people see in the corner of their eye, hearing the faintest phantom whisper in their ear only to pass it of as their imagination, Kyoukai resurrects a dead man.

In world that is a canvas where nearly every character is a delicate stroke of the finest paint brush, Kai is a yard brush. There is no subtlety with this character.

The Hi Shin Unit/Army is making up an entire Wing equal to Yotanwa a Qin 6 in this battle. Ten is the mind of the entire wing as the main strategist of the HSU. Akou requested their help and Ten immediately jumped in thinking they have a shot at defeating RBK. As if it's the first battle they fight against RBK, a genius that would never do anything without plan.

The only reason RBK stayed so long with Akou was to make sure that Akou calls the HSU in the first place. You can see the moment RBK realised everything went smoothly.

All Ten been doing all series is get clapped.
- Gaimou's strategist owned and captured her. She played the damsel.
- In Kokuyou Hills Kisui's left hand (the guy that fought Kyoukai) played with Ten. They stalled the HSU and captured the hill just to let the HSU recapture the hill even though they were supposed to push forward the lines like the other Kanki forces. It was Ten's plan to recapture the hill.
- Gyou’Un owned her clown ass and made her look like a moron.
- Kinmou almost killed her and she had to be saved by the archer bros

Now RBK. On top of all she stands in the way of Shin's instinctual prowess, I bet that will lead the HSU out of this situation. It has to be because Ten is ass.

Kyoukai is still a worse character though.

SBS committing all his forces forward should have some weakness. We should get some sort of counter attack through Shin and HSU due to that but I don’t think Hara will show us anything like that. Ousen being so passive so far is kind of bad. It’s been the same every time we have seen him in action. This passiveness makes us feel like he’s lucky over he’s really incredibly perceptive.

KokuYou Hills is the absolute worst arc to reference if you’re trying to argue that Ten is useless, since Ten got an entire subplot that arc about her winning in a scenario Shouheikun himself said wasn’t possible.

Love how you completely ignored Ten’s major arc during KokuYou Hills, again because you are irrationally biased against Ten. Literally Hara had to have Ten herself state that she had not surpassed Shouheikun that arc because he specifically wrote the river scenario as something Shouheikun said wouldn’t work. And Ten made it work. lol

Before that panel, I would have never bet on any Zhao battle being the #1 meat grinder for Qin in the entire manga. I mean in the future you've got the gigantic Chu wars and everything else. But it's possible I guess.

I actually just reread the introduction arc for Ten as the Hi Shin Unit’s strategist, and it flabbergasts me when I see people say she’s poorly written or terrible or whatever because I think she is one of Hara’s better characters. On an A/F scale I’d give her a solid A-. Not exactly a favorite of mine but a great character nonetheless.

My only real problem with Ten’s character is her genius just sort of comes out of nowhere initially. Mouki said that she was the first student of the Academy since Mouten who earned early recognition from Shouheikun, and he also said that nobody in the Academy could give her a good match anymore aside from Mouki himself. There are literal old men in Shouheikun’s academy who have been studying strategy for decades, and apparently Ten overwhelmingly surpassed all of them in just 3/4 years of study.

So this is my only real criticism of her but even this can just be written off as her having her own unique perspective as a mountain bandit/girl/wanting to contribute to Sei and Shin’s dreams or whatever. It was never a huge issue for me.

And if Ten took to the battlefield and immediately started rolling over all competition without pause and when it should be impossible (Kyoukai), I would condemn her as well but she doesn’t. She immediately bests one of the eight finger strategists of Wei, a strategist of an actual Wei general, as a good hype/introductory moment but never again feels like she’s too powerful and certainly not useless, lol. She is that glue that holds the Hi Shin Unit together where logistically this group of meatheads should fall apart.

I think the “she sweats all the time!” Crowd needs to realize that Ten is one of the only people on the battlefield, and literally the only person in the HSU who has never actually killed another person, has never dove headfirst into an enemy unit, and has no martial ability to speak of. She is completely helpless individually and is the only person in the HSU that this applies to. It was literally an established trial for her to simply not be overcome by the killing intent of an absolutely mid Wei army lol. She also constantly has to deal with the weight and guilt of sending her own comrades to the death in battles that she herself can’t participate in.

If Hara didn’t make Ten appear as apprehensive as she does sometimes, she would be a true Mary Sue, showing no fear while being surrounded by enemies specifically aiming to kill her while she is helpless, and showing no concern over the comrades that she knowingly sends to die.

Idk man, just no clue what you guys are smoking sometimes lol. Get off Ten, she is one of the better manga MC heroins I have read. She should be the true love interest of Shin and not Kyoukai’s Naruto ass lol.
