Is Bleach Better than Kingdom?

Early translation is out. Everyone is retreating, Kitari acknowledging that they can't hold the castle with what few troops they have and that they have to get the hell out of here. I hope this puts and end to the copium theories that Ousen is still going to turn this around. This is a complete defeat for Qin.

You must learn not to expect anything close to the 3 legendary arcs Bayou Sanyou and coalition
Same applies to the politics arcs
Kingdom is a washed up manga compared to its prime self let's be real

Sei’s Coronation and Western Zhao >> Bayou and Sanyou lol.

And besides, Gian was great. Better than Sanyou but maybe not Bayou. Juukou was also fine.

Wait until the end of Hango to pass a verdict. I’m telling yall this battle ain’t over yet. Zhao definitely is winning this but Hara is usually very definitive when it actually comes time to end a battle.

Gian had Kanki’s death, Gian actually killed several main characters all in one go. And their deaths were peak as fuck.

Sanyou can’t touch that bro. Sanyou was not as good as Gian.
Kanki's death was well done but that's not really gonna decide the better arc
The tactics and strategies back then were more refined and detailed, the characters had great lore from Renpa and his HK, to Mougou and his two monstrous generals. It's a completely different tier.
Gian consisted of Kanki suddenly finding himself in Riboku's cage, we get shit dialogue for a dozen chapters, Kanki escapes and does some psychological tactics, Riboku miraculously escapes death for 6 chapters in a row
That's really bad as it gets in Kingdom, the dialogue was poor and without aim

Nah, the disparity in quality between these two arcs is quite extreme. Sanyou in my eyes was perfect, Hara was able to introduce so many new characters and give each of them their respective time to shine (Kanki, Ousen, Mouten, Ouhon, Renpa etc.), not to mention this arc included arguably the greatest storylines of Shin having to defeat Rinko and Mougou having to face Renpa.

Gian on the other hand is a mess, inconsistent pacing, terrible explanation on Kanki's weakness, fake tension and so many more poor storytelling decisions.

I reread Sanyou recently, the first 6 days of battle, there is very little focus on tactics outside of Shin, Mouten, and Ouhon’s small 1,000 man units. It’s also hard to actually keep track of what is happening with the different armies because Hara’s POV shots were just off that arc.

The best tactical parts of Sanyou were Kanki vs Genpou/Kaishibou, Renpa vs Ousen and Renpa vs Mougou. Which are actually pretty small parts of the arc when you go back and reread. Most of the arc was related to the M3 vs Rinko and Genpou which just wasn’t that interesting for the most part.

Gian day one actually had great tactics. Shin and Kanki both had great moments to shine. Mouten got robbed but what can you do lol.

And Kanki almost checkmating Riboku was just thicc as fuck. I would take most of Gian’s tactics over most of Sanyou’s.

I also enjoyed the strategy and tactics with Hango. My issue with Hango is that Yotanwa, Shin, Ouhon, and Ousen basically got no love, but Riboku’s moments in Hango were fantastic, and the tactics with Seika were good enough, excluding Hara’s utter lack of giving Shibashou and Ousen direct hype moments.

“Sanyou was perfect” lmfao, not even close. Sanyou is a B+ arc at best.

Kyoukai slaughtering Kaishibou’s elites almost singlehandedly invalidated Sanyou as an arc. The single worst moment in all of Kingdom history, no doubt.

But even pretending this moment didn’t exist, Rinko was 70% of Sanyou and the fight and conflict with him was actually very lame. None of his tactics in the actual battle were interesting aside from the Rindo and his fight with Ouhon and Shin wasn’t even a top 5 Kingdom fight for me.

Kyoukai bs manifests in almost every arc she's involved in, Kyoukai reviving Shin at the Shukai plains was far worse imo but it doesn't take away from the fact that the majority of that battle was great.

If you don't like that fight or the arc in general that's fine, everyone experiences the series differently and there's no objective way here. Speaking for myself, I do consider the 'Bayou/Sanyou/Coalition' span of Kingdom the best the series has to offer.

Gian was arse. Probably the only arc I flat out disliked. Characters doing weird shit, Kanki's hyped "weakness" being a nonsensical nothing-burger with zero pay off, Kanki's bandits going full nakama mode, Naki being a pointless HSU character and Kanki's "backstory" being a backstory of the Saki Clan instead.

About the only thing I enjoyed was Kanki's death if only because I didn't have to see his arse ruin another Post-Shukai arc.
Sanyou had some wack moments like Kyoukai slaughtering Kaishibou's elites
To be fair, Kai has been consistently wack throughout the entire manga so I would personally consider this a Kai moment rather than a Sanyou moment.
