One of the most GOATED starts to an arc, just hoping doesn't end with Clowndom.
Am I the only one bored by Kanki ?
Nope def. not the only one, dude gives me too much flashbacks of the emo Uchiha bums of Naruto to find him interesting, just a generic edgelord/dark character. The one chance Hara had to make him interesting was with the weakness, but we all know how that turned out.
It's insane how good this arc started and it went on a downhill trajectory once the HSU escape happened. That battle should've Kanki's end, instead of dragging into this clownfest.
@Owl Ki on point with the Ei Sei-Kanki comment bruhz. And it's even worst for me, since imo Riboku & Ryofui actually had better arguments to Ei Sei than Sei's arguments. But Sei actually stood his ground with passion n shit. But got damn that Sei-Kanki conversation lmao. What in the blue fuck. We go from Ryo & Riboku proposing two legit plans while completely acknowledging the flaws of their plan... to this walking gimmick of a general.
And the sad part is Hara is sidelining Tou, Moubu, YTW for this non-sense.

At this point i'm just wondering whether the popularity polls affected his writing of Kanki.

Bingo. Kanki hates nothing more than the oppressors, and the neutral party. What Ei Sei saw in his eyes was not hopelessness, but someone who strived to lift the oppressed from the clutches of society to become greater.
Kanki doesn't give two shits about Shin, but I think deep down he respects his lowly background as a slave who still managed to climb the ranks of the military through sheer force of will. I think the same could be said for Mougou.
Kanki is the perfect foil to Shin, which is why I'm hoping he survives this campaign for a potential showdown between the two down the line. A true conflict of ideology.
"To become greater"... huhhh?!! Bro who knows what Ei Sei saw, since Ei Sei lost his IQ points in his convo with Kanki. But we do know Kanki's reality, this bum ain't robinhood. He ain't doing shit but serving the oppressors.
"hurpa durpa ima lift the opperessed by serving the biggest oppressors of all, the top nobles. hurpa durpa heheheh Viva la...." like really? If he was leading some army or started a rogue group your point would be 100% valid. But no he's just one of Ei Sei's pawns.
He's doing nothing more than serving the royalty and doing what he's been ordered to do. Despite his so called rage against the world.
He's not Ousen, he's not Yotanwa, he's not Ryofui, etc. For fucksake he's not even Mangoku. Dude is generic wild sickfuck who had a bad past.
As for his treatment of Shin.. Yes making fun of somebody who rose up from slavery and shit, then saved your bum ass multiple times.. is 10/10 lifting the oppressed to become greater. That's what the HSU is.
