Some people do compromises with racism, some people make compromises with sexism, others with ableism and other oppressive ideas. They are not necessarily aware of it, but they do make compromise with those ideology for their own interest.
The question is, are you willing to make compromises with ideas that are you consider not justifiable. For example, are you willing to accept that people are in the streets to defend the meritocracy of your country ?
If yes, then you are making a compromise with poverty. If you consider that it is not acceptable, then you must refuse to align with the system and refuse ALL the possible compromises.
Because when you make a compromise with a person, you also make a compromise with the set of value of said person and her ideology.
