A lot of the fault for the downfall was due to the cultural differences amongst the different demographics there.

Western side was more industrially developed. Kind of reminds me of certain sides of Spain wanting to break away from the rest due to having stronger economy.

Nah wasn't cultural difference. It was dictators coming to power

Croatians, Serbs, Bosnians and so on have really really similar cultures and language, problem with Yugoslavia is that it was a powder keg of extremist that took control after Tito died. Serbian government at the time wanted centralised system wheres Croatians, Bosnian and Slovenians wanted Federal system.

Tito was one single unifying force that kept it all together.
