I never said the west is the church idiot. I said religion largely plays a role on what we call the west, and in my latest comment I gave more context as in culturally. I am agnostic and even I can admit I come from a culturally catholic background.

Even though they don't identify as a Christian,you bet a lot of their values are Christian,because Christian values permeate the collective imaginary of the western people. The same is true for other civilizations. There is no getting rid of religion. Religion is the start of civilization itself.
Yes, but i suspect that is because there is a lot of old people in Portugal. I noticed that younger Portuguese people don't care about religion as much. Sill a very Christian nation though.

Japan is a tricky case because Shintoism doesn't function like Christianity or Islam do. And China literally saw its religious sites destroyed during the cultural revolution so this is not a fair comparison.
You're trying to bend reality according to your personal biases.
I like the part where the entirety of europe willingly converted to Christianity because they were enamored by the light that is Jesus' love
Yes and every citizen of ancient and medieval Europe became Christian because they liked the faith so much. Politics never played a reason, there were no forced conversions nor conquests.

Christianity was mostly about social conventions and how the holidays were named (renamed pre-Christian holidays) and ofc society was governed by an elite that called themselves Christian (while grossly ignoring actual Christian values as passed down from Jesus).
My goat even the Japanese celebrate Christmas for commercial purposes.
