Not the same problem: If today, a random powerfull army of a powerfull country invaded your land to place random people in it, killed your people and created "the country of doom", while making your people fight the oppression on multiple generation... you would also be understanding why, even 100 years later, it is not acceptable to say "the country of doom has the right to exist".

Nation states were built around ethnic lines. That was the whole point.
