There was no country back then,it was a bunch of scattered tribes living in a hunter and gatherer life style.If no Europeans ever settled here,those people would still be living like that.There are many uncontacted tribes in the Amazon forest that still struggle with such lifestyle.People romantize this life because they have no idea how hard it is to live without technology in the middle of a fucking jungle.Taking woman?wtf,dude?You are colombian,dont say BS like that.The portuguese/spanish MARRIED those woman.You guys they were vikings or something.There are many bolivians,peruvians,venezuelans and so on in Brazil actually.No big deal.Latin American countries share similar culture,no way what is happening in Europe would happen here if people from LATAM started migrating in bigger numbers here in Brazil.

Ethnic cleansing=Genocide=Mass murder.English colonization and Spanish/Portuguese colonization were very different. Iberians(for the most part) didn't go around shooting people here.

What bs? It wasn’t a good thing. You can straw man my arguments as much as you want in order to rationalize colonization as a good thing. It happened, there’s no going back, doesn’t mean there wasn’t genocide, ethnic cleansing and enslavement in numerous instances. Just because I’m Colombian and I’m like 9% native or something like that doesn’t mean I’m gonna defend the shit that happened over there. I recognize the crimes that where committed while acknowledging my roots. If someone came for your land you’d be screaming bloody murder no matter the circumstances.

And I’ll say this, despite the government of Colombia not being great like ever, at least they’ve acknowledged the importance of the Amazon rainforest and taken a protectionist policy in order to protect it. Brazil on the other hand has been flip floppy at best, and they have the biggest chunk of it.
