I don’t like how fascinated people are with Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
I keep seeing stuff about her on the internet since she was released from prison.
I just don’t get what people are interested in. The lady was brutally abused by her mother who she subsequently murdered. It’s a horrific story, and I don’t want to keep hearing about it.

I would say there is a genuine conversation to be had surrounding the ineffectiveness of our systems to prevent child abuse. But I feel like that’s different from just fetishizing true crime stories.

the government is supposed to have the sole ability to enact violence against others.
And if you make it to where someone can orchestrate the murder of their abuser and not face any repercussions, then nobody would ever go to the police and people would just get murdered without trial.

Honestly the criminal justice system wasn’t that bad on Gypsy.
She did orchestrate a murder, but because of the circumstances her sentence was mitigated.
I have heard cases of other women(often people of color) who similarly killed their abusers and got the book thrown at them.
