Yeah not now
But there was a month ago and then there was arson attack on rails before Olympic ceremony.
There was also one last year against police shooting
I mean was this the case with France always? Because I have observed France being in news for such events more in last few years than before
France has a long history of activism. Despite the surge of far-right, the radical left keeps existing unlike in Italy and elsewhere where it died. There are many explanations to that. One being that some individuals did a lot of work to keep it existing like Mélenchon. This explains why there is a left in France and doesn't answer your question.
But the two events that you mentioned is "Nahel's death" and "some individuals sabotaging the railroad". Two events that aren't remotely linked.
First one are people rioting and whatnot due to Nahel's death.
The railroad suspects are yet to be determined, investigations of cops is underway. At this point it's either Russians or far-left activists. And cops seemed to have a preference for far-left activism when it happened. One would think only another big nation with their intel and means could paralyze a country like that. But if it fucking turns out to be 10 far-left individuals, this would be hilarious and show how weak the French government OR how well-prepared these far-lefties are.
