Well.. Systemic racism is kind of a new thing when we look back at humanity's history. The concept of the superiorities of races is pretty recent.

Pre-Neolithic tribes were mobile, most likely isolated from one another and focused on the survival of the group so they were most likely ethnocentered even tho I don't think there was real hostilities in place.

The problem is that there is no info to debunk. It's a discussion that should not be happening in the first place. We simply should not discuss the legitimacy of the color of skin of a person.. That's basic respect.

We talk about the genocide to denounce it, not to discuss its legitimacy. (there are none)

But these conversations are happening and instead of shutting them down they should be addressed to identify the reasons for their existence.
And it's a generally problematic attitude to act as if heritage didn't matter. Uniformity won't cure racism but it produces rootless urbanites that don't know where they belong. Only corporations and politicians benefit from such a society.

Technically i have a migrant background (parents came to germany from portugal) and therefore am part of a minority group, but i was born here so for me it doesnt really feel that way.

While this is true people didn't necessarily see other as equal, the concept of categorizing human by race and therefore oppressing them is a very new thing. (around 4 centuries ago)

People were aware of difference of skin color, but they didn't act because of them.

Before that, the reason to categorize people were diverse (socials status, different ethnogroups, level of education, status in society etc.). The categorization were the result of the context (such as the fact that some people were considered barbarian because coming from a native tribe for example in the colonization), but that had nothing to do with the skin.

The concept of racism was developped very recently with scientific racism. Where people started to research and categorize others based on their color of skin or ethnicities in a documented and pseudo-scientific way.

Systemic racism is not natural, its a social construct. Completely isolated people coming in our society today would have absolutely no reasons to be racists. (But they would get racist bias with time by social contact)

Sadly, systemic racism has infected each strats of our society today, so to get rid of it is a hassle and must be done directly on the system itself.

Indeed. That's what I'm doing. I'm not shutting down the conversation (I can't do that) I'm telling people the problem in having the conversation in the first place. Some conversations cannot elevate the debate.

Why were they all non-whites then ? Mostly from Africa. I mean people underestimate intolerance by implying that everything before 19th century was the utopia world of back then when everything was so good for everyone

Culture is also a big part of the problem today, it's not just race. White people and black people don't have the same culture. Similarly, if I go to another part of the town I will start seeing people with pijamas and towels on their head, walking around in sandals and they barely speak the language.

Because of the colonization. The slavery in the united state was an economical process first, they needed working hands for the plantations. Scientific racism was used to justify the status co about slavery but it was not it's cause.

Racism as we know it didn't existed before 4 centuries ago. There was different manner of expressing intolerance (ethnocentrism / deshumanization of other cultures as barbarians etc.) but not a hierarchization of ""races"" on the color of the skin.

Scientific racism was a bit like a pandora box that we should have never be opened.. once spreaded... it's extremily hard to prevent.
