What's your take on this phenomena? Just fanaticism similar to soccer and sports in general?
In a way yes. We all naturally get immersed in a good story yeah? Its quite often that we self insert ourselves into the world for a better experience. Its the biggest reason so many harem or isekai MCs are bland as fuck; to allow for very easy self insertion in their place. Characters like Shanks is bland enough(and badass enough) to self insert. Its also a reason why Zoro fans are also known to be fanatical.

This is one of those things I dont give 2 shits about due to the level of pettiness. Zoro is based off a main character created by a Pedo? Aren't you guys still reading a manga created by a pedo's apprentice?

Insane levels of logic leaping just to shit on some people.

I don't believe that's exactly what he means since a lot of that is Zoro fans being taunted and basically goaded into arguing about it. It's kind of forcing them to defend themselves by making fun of them saying their fave is a pedophile (not saying they're innocent since they also do that to other fandoms sometimes). A better example would be if you said Zoro is a boring and basic character and/or a weakling and I started calling you a homeless loser out of nowhere.
A lot of huge fanatics for a specific character will use extreme personal insults the moment you criticize their faves.

Personally idc, Zoro is Zoro. That Mangaka made his choice, if he served his jail time, then so be it as well. But if he relapses...

This is the karma they put on themselves by labeling Sanji fans as such etc.
I think it's going overboard, maybe poking a little fun, but to completely debase them? That's pushing boundaries.

Roruni Kenshin iirc or whatever it is

OK real talk...I could give 2 shits if someone "moved on" or is doing better. They knew what they were doing was wrong and kept doing it, and only stopped cause they got caught. There are some things you don't do, circumstances being considered.

Yes, I'm talking about serving jail/prison time.
Which is supposed to be rehabilitation. Certain it's an awful crime, and idk the Japanese standards on how they do their laws etc.

Japanese standards are different than ours, let's put it this way...

Perhaps for some crimes, others, maybe not? Idk

I've heard Japanese laws favor the community or higher ups or something rather than the individual.
They don't have the best laws.

It truly is. Things would be better if people accept that majority of people dont operate by what's right and wrong, but convenience. They would bend the moral scale however they can to get that convenient outcome whether it's mental or physical. Their own personal beliefs, and validation for such beliefs, is the convenient outcome.

I once made a post here and had one guy call it right wing propaganda, while another claimed it was the most woke leftist dribble he's ever seen lol. You won't win.
True!

People seek path of least resistance and convenience offers that.

Actions or inactions are driven by what serves people or what's comfortable or profitable for them and not by what's right or wrong.

In simple terms, this is moral rationalization. People choices or interests shape what's right or wrong.

And your credibility is entirely dependent on whether or not something agrees with you. They're so courteous and respectful, calling you smart when say things they agree with. The instant you say something they disagree with, it's always you who's wrong and gotta change. They don't even bother to rethink our often subjective beliefs. They were using you to seek validation the entire time. Those who don't conform get filtered out, and you end up with echo chambers like Reddit.

Isn't that just human nature?
