Yeah, it might be a little different if it was just soldiers getting pummeled, but Israel has consistently bombed civilian neighborhoods/schools/hospitals/food banks, that’s a pretty clear cut sign of their intent to wipe out any semblance of humanity in Gaza…and listen, I have obviously felt an attachment to that colonized state when I was much younger and wanted the Hamas hostages to go free, but you can’t justify this gratuitous level of retaliation, it’s clearly ethnic cleansing by any definition :crybeard:

This is what kills me…I’m not saying we should NEVER work, but we can’t even get a four-day work week despite all the studies in other countries proving that it makes employees happier and companies more profitable. That’s how you know you don’t have to actually be smart to become a billionaire; these horrible mongrels actively choose not to make even more money if it means loosening their airtight grip on an wage slave’s neck :beckmoji:

The deaths from direct combat are ultimately only 63k out of 2 million Gazans, basically less than 5% of the population. I don’t think you could argue genocide from that alone. Nonetheless those civilian casualties are horrific and counterintuitive to any long term peace.

Where I think there is a much stronger argument for genocide is the indirect deaths due to the destruction of infrastructure, famine, and lack of aid.

This article links a study stating that excess mortality could be ~300k since the war started. That’s 16.75% of Gaza’s population. I don’t know how true those numbers are, but I would be a lot more comfortable calling Israel’s actions a genocide if they were.

Which is kinda why I’m holding my judgement until we get a much clearer scope of what happened.

One thing people often mention is Hamas using human shields. But that’s not really a justification. Some years back a guy held a synagogue in Texas hostage. The US government didn’t bomb the synagogue to kill the terrorist.

Netanyahu doesn’t seem to care about Gazans or
the Israeli hostages.

The only way to remove Hamas and create lasting peace is if Israel can develop allies in Gaza that can overthrow Hamas. You can’t due that through force alone.

What do you mean?
What's better than exorbitant monetary profit?
Slightly less exorbitant monetary profit and watching everyone suffer. Watching people suffer and staying uneducated while they support political figures that hurt them even more is better than having another multimillion dollar yacht in addition to the other 10 multimillion dollar yachts.
Money alone doesn't bring happiness, to live a fulfilling life human souls are also necessary.

This post is factual. There is no international food shortage like they always want us to think, there would be no issues feeding the growing population if it was fairly distributed and not so much lost in unstable conflict regions where storing grain for example is near impossible. Most countries in Africa that constantly experience famines actually produce enough food. To make it worse, many people in the global north have no idea this is the case which gives further rise to white supremacists who blame Africa's perceived inability to feed itself on its inhabitants being backwards primitives.
Even in a relatively rich European cointries a good portion of crops is destroyed directly on the field because it doesn't meet EU size and shape rregulations. 'Ugly' vegetables and fruit don't even make it to the supermarket. This is in addition to the over 50% that are thrown away in households. Yet we have idiotic politicians trying to convince us that we need more intensive agriculture with more pesticides to squeeze out as much profit as possible to feed everybody, only causing more harm to pollinants and the overall environment, further destroying our health. Wich in turn generates profit for pharmaceutical companies and the medical mafia.

Yes but many people say genocide when they mean mass killings .
Let's assume there is a hypothetical ethnic group A of 10 million. If someone kills 1 million, they killed ten percent of the population. Is it terrible, reprehensible and evil? Of course it is. But depending on the demographics this hypothetical ethnic group can recover.

Let's take another hypothetical ethnic group B with a population of 500,000. If somebody were to kill 450.000 of them, the absolute numbers are far lower than in group A's case but the effects on the population much more devastating.

Hypothetical ethnic group C with a population of 2000 that sees ''only'' 1800 people killed might never recover at all. Even if the remaining survivors manage to grow back their numbers, possible even reaching higher population numbers than before, the damage to social and cultural institutions is permanent and this ethnic group identity might cease to exist altogether.

All three may be examples of genocides but the long term effects are vastly different.

This is what people need to understand. Genocide, by definition, requires the intent to wipe out and is neither a numbers game nor synonymous with mass murder.

They would still be the richest people in the world by several miles, only difference is that working class folks might have cheaper healthcare and access to more social services…but of course they won’t stop hoarding all the wealth they possibly can; that would require a soul or sense of compassion, neither of which can be bought :beckmoji:

Ukraine doesn’t have a population density comparable to Gaza

anyways if genocide is defined as the eradication of a people, I would argue that percent of population killed is a significant factor in whether or not something should be counted as genocide.

This isn’t me saying that I want more people to die. But the destruction of a group is what a genocide is.

The colonial state of Israel is commiting a genocide. This is something attested by :

- The International laws
- An INSANE amount of Documentation

- Even people in the colonial state of Israel itself

But Israel is not only commiting A genocide, Israel commiting MULTIPLE acts of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity:

- Tortures and civilian targeted bombings
- Poisonning of ressources
- Acts of humanitarian cruelty

- Targeted Missinformation

Remember : The recognition of a crime in the eye of justice is only a TOOL to institutionnalize the action of Justice. We do not have to wait for a LONG investigation to categorize a crime just like we do not have to call a murderer a murderer if they kill someone in front of us.
