Yep, and they have more kids than they can handle so they get on welfare and food stamps, then they vote for evil Republican bastards who slash funding for those programs to the bone and tell them it’s the Democrats’ fault (who, to be fair, do absolutely nothing to stop this kind of thing from happening), and they’re so stupid that they believe the propaganda and continue voting for the same evil bastards, and it just goes in a circle, round and round and round until the life is completely sucked out of them…at which point the kids are old enough to fall into the exact same trap, and the conservative machine just keeps fueling itself ad infinitum 
Funnily enough, no matter how much I research Brazilian politics going back to the 60s, I cant find any evidence of left wing authoritarianism. Even during the military dictatorship years, most of the time it was run by a far right parry(ARENA). The most tame one was a center party. Leftism didnt seem to gain ground until the 90s, with a leftist president-elect in 2002.

You asked for links; I gave you links. We had a president trying to push for radical reforms, aligning Brazil with the Soviet Union and decorating the likes of Che Guevara. All of this during the Cold War era. Communist insurrections were popping up all over Latin America. I believe we had a countercoup; if the military regime didn't take over, we would be one giant Cuba today. The Military Regime was a dictatorship. There is no denying that. Yet, most old-timers are fond of it because of these reasons:
*Brazil was never so safe. Criminality was very low.
*The economy boomed. It was a time of great prosperity. Brazil became a major player economically.
*Brazil wasn't the bureaucratic hell that it is today.
