He just found people in power with no ethics. Which is actually... something very easy to do. It comes with the money.
I actually watched a video about esoteric rituals and how they seemingly align with the method of entering Epstein's inner circle and it was pretty damn enlightening. The individuals were essentially tested at each point to see if they would be the type to indulge in his network (whilst he simultaneously gathered blackmail material on them).
It linked the "hidden truth" that many occult practices have to the end-stage of Epstein's actions.
Ultimately, I'm saying you're right. You require a certain capacity to go all the way with what the heck Epstein was doing. It actually seems very likely that to get to such a level in society where you are at "the summit" you require next to no morals. It's disgusting. The people weren't sick in terms of psychiatric issues, they're 'sick', as in, they lack the foundational morals that makes someone human.
