News Half Year Manga Sales Ranking 2021 !

KnY GOATED as always. Best selling manga with legendary numbers despite having ended over a year ago.
JJK rode KnY's wave well. Good timing for the anime.
CSM showing huge figures pre anime. Going to absolutely explode in a few months
OP just barely scraping onto the list. Good to see it in a position that matches its quality for once.

How did JJk ride KnY's wave?
KnY brought tons and tons of new readers to manga since it had unprecedented levels of popularity. Then it finished and so many of those new readers were stranded looking for something else to read. JJK's anime started right around that time and is of the same genre and tone and so it gained a lot of new fans from leftover KnY fans.

It's not just JJK either. KnY had a big impact on the manga industry as a whole. Now many series sell a ton more than they otherwise would have since there are just more people reading manga in general. JJK is just probably the clearest example of it, and CSM will likely follow.

Obviously these series would still be popular regardless, but most likely not to extent they are now.

While KnY did bring in a new audience, JJKs recent successes comes from its amazing anime adaption, you can see how the manga sales started to shoot up after the anime started airing

The anime also started airing at the same time the KnY movie did. I completely agree the anime boosted manga sales. That's usually the case. But a reason why in this instance the audience for the anime was so big to begin with was because of KnY.

KnY boosted the ani/manga audience -> Anime boosted JJK popularity -> JJK popularity boosted sales

One piece's volume being fifth on individual sales, shows exactly how it has fallen. You see it is not like the only thing being affected is Op's overall ranking.

One piece has a gradual constant reduction of sales on individual volumes.. First volume of Wano(91) was at 2,4 million sales and volume 98 can't even pass the 2 million mark.

At Dressrosa OP had volumes at the 3 m mark.

youre as naive as your avi

one piece will stay the goat even if it sells 1 copy per year, i want op on top for pride but it doesnt change my enjoyment of the story
The news are clearly showing that there are mangas increasingly surpassing One Piece in quality and people increasingly losing their interest in One Piece.
People can love things. But,if the things people love stop having the reasons for people to love them, then continuing to loving those things is a waste of time. That is what is happening. One Piece is little by little losing the reasons that made people love the story, and people are giving up on One Piece and going follow better things.
If Oda continue to do stupid things equal or even bigger than Luffy's bounty after Totto Land,he should start to go broke still this year or next.

it will eventually reach the 2 mil mark, all the volumes still sell over 2 mil, it just takes longer now

problem here is we're only getting the physical copy numbers and not the digital

the past seven years the volume sales have gone from 3m mark to 2m mark but year on year physical sales have decreased whereas digital have increased and this isnt just the case for manga volumes but even the weekly shonen jump magazine and the manga industry as a whole

a series thats gone on as long as this was never going to be at the top forever and with long series people get older and some lose interest or their taste in things change, they out grow shonen manga

I hope Oda sees these numbers and can fix the OP.

these literally the same numbers op gets on average , the problem isnt the story the "problem" if u consider it a problem is that oda takes more break thus less volumes per year thus less sales (2019 had 4 volumes compared to 2020 had 2 volumes and 2021 had only 1 for most of it)

the "solution" in this case is to overwork Oda and make him go back to 4 volumes per year which's too much .... I would rather keep Oda healthy and let him work on a reasonable pace than that

I dont agree. İn my opinion problem is not how hard Oda works. There's a general low quality to the OP. This is real . If you look at MF's sales figures, you'll see that it sells a lot. Because there were big characters, big fights. Because there was the realization of the expectations of the emperor and admiral formed by the Oda. People want to see it now. Not every arc is a simple repetitive story. Wano has 100 episodes so far. At least half of it consists of unnecessary episodes that will not affect the rest of the series. We are in an arc where one emperor will descend, but in such an important arc we read characters that have no effect on the series. Stuff like this overwhelms the reader. For 20 years, people have been waiting for emperor fights, for the New World. Unfortunately, Oda did not meet these expectations. This kind of thing also caused the reader to slowly abandon the OP.

-Drawing off panel the big fights people have been waiting for like WB and Roger.
-Saying the New World is a very scary place and making it an easier world out of Grand Line.
-Inability to create an expectation on the emperors and turn it into reality like Big Mom.
-Repetitive arcs
-Constantly creating mysteries but not explaining them.

This list can goes

You can't keep people in a series for 20 years just by creating anticipation and mystery. At some point you have to give these expectations and mysteries to the reader.

what you consider average is a downfall since a couple of years

Most people have here constructive criticism because its true who needs Otama who needs Rebecca backstory its dragging nothing more even a stone has a sad background story in OP

nobody really dies

In two years the sales will fall further

Funny as you keep comparing OP to other mangs while I'm only comparing OP with OP itself.

OP had his peak at Marineford. Lot of fans. From that time to now it has be losing fans and sales per volume show that. Doesn't matter if it still better than others mangas(not KnY and JJK as stated by you) OP is shit now compared to Marineford.
You know that quality isn't what determines sales but rather hype. Enies lobby was a good arc and had less sales than fishman island island.
