The latest chapter made it seem like Akainu was aware of what Vegapunk was talking about, so guys how much does he know? Does he know everything or just bits and piece? At the very least I dont think he knows about Imu specifically because while he seemed to be aware that there was someone above the Gorosei he didnt know exactly who.

It isn't that surprising that he knows some things

It was also implied during Dressrosa that Sengoku knows what the D. stands for during his conversation with Law

I'd imagine the Fleet Admiral is privy to some information regarding the Void Century

Probably not everything but they know more than most

Doesn't really mean Akainu knows anything substantial. Even Kuzan said that Ohara brought everything upon themselves for studying the Void Century and becoming enemies with the WG. Kuzan was gonna let Robin and Saul die until Akainu went too far.

Knowing details about the history is a crime. If Vegapunk tells the whole world some of these details, are they now criminals to be purged?

He questions the Gorosei having someone above them here. So it's clear he doesn't know Imu's existence completely. But he suspects someone pulling the strings.

I think it's the same with the true history and shit.

He knows bits and pieces. Not the whole thing.

Probably knows what he knows from Dragon. Back when Dragon was in the marines and they were BFFs.

He knows a lot of things, the guy is in direct contact with the gorosei, was sent to destroy ohara, is in contact with the celestial dragons, he lives on redline and he is in the business.
The only thing that he doesnt know is probably imu, cuz he never leaves the basement.

Well Sengoku seemed to know some stuff abut the One Piece and the Will of D,etc. Maybe he filled Akainu in lmao. Or maybe the Gorosei themselves did.

Ready for this to age poorly.

The higher the rank in general, the more they know. Akainu is privy to a lot more information than your typical marine, even just due to the circumstances of his job. He interacts with Gorosei and cd’s on a daily basis. He knows they’re up to all sorts of shady stuff. He surmised that there is a power higher than the Gorosei within the WG.

That said, my belief so far is that his understanding and the understanding of other high ranking marines like Garp and sengoku is that what they get up to is for the greater good. He killed the civilians in Ohara because he thought the product of their research would unleash weapons of mass destruction and throw the world into war. (Rightfully so)

The Gorosei seem to have stuck consistently to their story of void century research being prohibited chiefly to prevent the ancient weapons from being awakened. They stuck to that story literally till clover’s last breath. We as readers know that they’re hiding something much more sinister, and likely grave misdeeds by the 20 kings. And likely an intention to wipe out a significant amount of humanity.

But does Akainu know? Likely not at the moment, but he’s increasingly showing signs of piecing more together. Additionally, since even Vegapunk and Rayleigh seem to think there’s grey area in who was right and who was wrong, you can bet that the Gorosei have painted a picture to high ranking marines and even other celestial dragons (saint shalria doesn’t even seem aware of the void century altogether) that makes the WG appear to have pure intentions, and any of their opposition, past and present, being evil.

The admirals follow their own type of justice, and that's the key word it may not look pretty like Fuji's but in the end the admirals are supposed to be good guys some more clearly than others ofc.

So there's no way they would do something like what they did in Ohara if they don't know at least some part of the story to justify some of the things they do or see CDs doing.

Also Kong was prob FA during God Valley & an Admiral before that and during those years of service he must've figured out those guys don't age XD
