Controversial How much money do you make.

@Nidai_Kitetsu but for real, my "fairly well" earn is not what you think. It's not like I make 6 digits or anything Lmao.

And I changed my major to computer science like you and @ShishioIsBack suggested before, and it's one of the best decisions I've made.

My military job (Aviation Resource Management) is also a computer science based job and the paygrade is great and it also has a bonus. So thank both of y'all for that.

Computer Science is the best major to be in if you just tryna make big money.

Yeah, far better than doing physics, way better career prospects
Yup definitely.

I'm actually trying to become a software engineer myself in the future. If I remember correctly, you are also a software engineer too right?

Does Bachelor's Degree works or it has to be a Master's for SE?

Is computer science programming and stuff?

That's what I do, but I'm unfamiliar with foreign degrees.

Tbh, even without a Bachelor's Degree, you can apply for SE jobs IF you are experienced and skilled in programming. Many companies also value experience very much. After all, as a programmer, you are also a problem solver. That's why the faang companies rather look for people who can code and they don't really care that much if that person has a degree or not.

I can at least speak for companies in Germany.

Try to develop as many projects as possible and code, code, code and... code.
Try to understand and use data structures, have good understanding of databases and how to build your own server.
There are many ways to improve your programming skills.

But I guess you can get even more money with a Bachelor's Degree, let alone Master's. Honestly, if you have fun studying all those fields in Computer Science (like me), it's definitely the correct path for you imo.

Yeah but it also includes other kind of modules in which programming hardly takes a crucial role: Theoretical Computer Science (I struggled so hard for it) for example.
So Computer Science is very versatile and with a Bachelor's Degree, you can apply many, many different kind of job applications, not just about programming. Even Software Development has many different kind of individual jobs but I guess @ShishioIsBack can tell you more to that.
You could also apply as an IT Consultant for example.

That's cool. This your fist year? Glad you're enjoying it.
Yes, although I changed my major at the beginning of 2023 so I missed the fall semester term of 2022 and the military training interrupts my school schedule. So I have to do summer semester and winter semester this year and next year to make up. But this is my second year in college but I'm still in first year of computer science major if you get it.
I'm currently a software architect but I didn't graduate that long ago.
Nice!

Alright nice, thanks for the info, Sentinel-san!

I did some research and found out that Bachelor's Degree is good enough for some CS's jobs, but higher level demands Master's and Doctorate's (obviously). I'm not sure if I want to do Master's or beyond that but I will think about it.

Software Engineering is very easy lol I think @Sasaki Kojirō does it too
Just know ReactJS Spring Boot and Some DB (That's one stack)
MongoDB, Node.JS Express.Js is another stack which is even easier.

A lot of money in Software Engineering, before returning back to school I was making close to $150K per year but I wanted to do something different.
I used to be a Full Stack Software Engineer for 3 Years but now I came back to school to get my masters and I am working on a deeper field called "High Performance Computing" where we use Super Computers or Computer Clusters which is basically around 1000 Computers connected over a local area network and each computer is called a "node", and Artificial Intelligence, to process huge data sets. Like Data Sets as big as 1 Petabyte (1000 Terabytes or 1000,000 GBs)

Yeah Bachelor's definitely works. I got my first job offer right before I graduated in 2019 from my University's Job fair.
If you want we can connect on linkedIn (I can PM you) and I can give you more advise there.

paramedic here, £40k roughly, so about 50k american, plus some money on bitcoin (£3k last year), savings account generates about 2k give or take, and this year my sister and I will be renting out an inherited family home but it's unclear how much we'll make on that. It's difficult to say how much I earn after tax because I have an accountant go through each year and pretty much every year I get owed some money.

Unless I come into millions I'm not sure my life would change with more money. E.g. an extra 20k per year I would possibly convert my garage into a gym, no idea but likely it would all go into savings.

Zoro >>> Lanji
What's with the last part lol?

30k USD per year in the middle east. I had to leave my home country though. Living modestly to try and grow my savings and be in a position to make some investments back home.
UAE? Saudi? What part of middle east?
