Discussion Power How strong was Hidan?

He is often seen as the weakest member of the Akatsuki if we forget about Zetsu but I think he’s criminally underrated. If he was just smarter he probably would’ve been among the mid tier out of the Akatsuki.

If you don’t have intel on his abilities he is more of a threat than Konan imo.

It’s sad to see that we didn’t see his fullest capabilities, Kishi shouldn’t have done him dirty like this

As a former big Hidan fan, I also regret that he never got to show his full power and all of the scythe gimmicks. The fact that he was able to draw blood from Asuma, a high-tier CQC-fighter, while chased by Shikamaru's shadows speaks for itself.

That being said, he has (shown) little to no defenses against most advanced Ninjutsu. Most high-level fighters can incapitate people without the need for actual killing, so his immortality is kinda meh. And the preparations for his ritual take way too long for most blood-lusted high-tier fighters. He simply lacks versatility for versus-arena fights. In-verse, where fighters usually don't go all-out right away and most likely lack knowledge on him, he's potentially lethal against a vast variety of characters.

Weakest Akatsuki unfortunately, in general terms. Has the slowest attack speed and worst aim out of all of them. However his gimmick is pretty OP so it allows him to punch vastly above his class. With no Intel all it takes for him to basically win is to catch you off guard once.

Dope fighting style with that sick scythe though. And great design imo, even for the Akatsuki.
