In my book, if the admirals don't have CoC they won't be top tiers, and I'm someone who has advocated for them being relative to Yonko since Marineford.

Kaido was right when he says haki tops everything. DF gives more versatility and perhaps the ability to destroy the world like with Gura Gura, but in a 1 vs 1, there's a reason why Shanks can be on Kaido's tier without a mythical zoan, because his haki is good enough, and Kaido wasn't in a superior tier by having mastered both. That's also why Roger and Whitebeard were equivalents despite Whitebeard having the Gura Gura.


For a character without a DF it's even more obvious CoC is needed to compete. There's a limit to how strong you can be without it.

Yeah, and I'm saying with an OP DF and being maxed out on the other two haki, you can be a top tier too.

A top tier logia DF for example, has top tier destructive capacity and great versatility.
I imagine all admirals being able to replicate Katakuri's CQC, by morphing their body with FS. They also maxed out on advanced armament haki and can create barriers capable of negating attacks like from WB

But yes, the ceiling of advanced Conqueror's haki is higher. Which is why the top 4 (of usual consensus - Roger/WB/Garp/Rocks) are advanced Conqueror's.
But maxing out advanced Conqueror's haki is not a given amongst advanced Conqueror's haki users as well.

Point being, I believe it's possible to reach top tier without advanced Conqueror's, with an OP DF.
But to each the peak of top tier, then advanced Conqueror's haki is a necessity

Not exactly that.
The chapter implies that becoming WSS=Being King which is demonstrated in Zoro's Conqueror Haki.
Not only is Mihawk top tier without DF(Which pretty much prompts the idea that he should have CoC) but he is also the current WSS.
