General & Others How would you have rewritten Wano and Egghead?

#1
There's a lot of discourse and controversy surrounding these two arcs, and how they handled their characters, plotting, pacing, et cetera...
Let's say you go back in time to when these arcs were first written, but now you have complete authority over Oda and what he puts out in this manga.
What rules would you have put in place to improve the quality of these arcs? What content would you alter?

Wano
I personally would of let Momo showcase conquerors Haki it would of been a great way to show his future potential much like how Ace used it when he was a Kid, I also would of made Orochi the competent powerful Shogun we where all expecting no the big headed doofus we got, that way Zoro could fight him and Marco could take on King, all Marco was good for during Wano was stalling

And while I didn't mind the Yamaden thing I think it would of been better for her character if she learned that she didn't have to be like Oden that she could be her own person, that she is Yamato and that she shouldn't base her entire identity after one man she didn't even really know. I also wouldn't have had green bull show up, of all the admiral debuts this was by far the worst one, and yes I'm aware he was technically debuted earlier but this was the first time we saw him unshilloueted.

Egghead
Firstly I would of explored and expanded the murder mystery aspect that was in the beginning of Egghead, it would of been cool as hell seeing York outsmart and manipulate everyone while simultaneously using the Seraphim to take out the other vegapunks and then I'd have Lilith be the one to put the pieces together and take her down, I'd have Lilith and York the last two remaining Vp clones before Saturn even arrived. I also would of rather had just Saturn arrive and let the other gorosei be the main antagonist of other arcs

Erase it all
And don't have BM in wano
That alone fixes everything since it allows Oda to focus on Sn trio vs Kaido only as main fight with the ending being Luffy vs Kaido
No G5. Keep awakening solely for Elbaf arc or so

No Gorosei in Egghead except Saturn alongside Kizaru.

it would have no pressure at all cuz saturn and kizaru gets stomped in 3 sec and then luffy and the other will even not have to flea away, ridiculous

For Wano:

Make Kaido a more active threat and the true brain of his crew instead of Orochi, who's just a pawn to him, and develop his backstory, his personality and his relations and dynamics between him and his subordinates, as well as the dynamics between the Calamities and the Flying Six.

Bring some much needed tensions and stakes with Kaido, and his crew coming as real threats and worthy of being a Yonko crew.

Less Scabbards and less screentime for them, as well them not being able of injuring Kaido. Less of Tama and Momo and Yamato, and if she's even included completely rewrite her personality and motives, as well.

And of course less of Oden, Toki being more developed and not just being a plot device and her talking about the Void Century or at least giving hints about what happened during that time. Oden's father stays dead.

Big Mom and her crew don't come to Wano, and certainly not that waterfall shit.

True character development for Zoro, with him finding about his origins and more about the blades, Ryuma's history and he visits Ryuma's grave.

No Nika or Yamato's I am Oden shit. Oden's flashback is modifier to removed that utterly stupid and cringeworthy naked dance and Oden stupidly allowing Kaido and Orochi to comfort their tyranny over Wano.

Less pacing and slowness, a more elaborated conclusion to the arc.

Wano could easily become top 5 arc if it was the first EoS and Zoro’s arc covering the flashback of old Wano, Shimotsuki clan, Ryuma vs Nusjuro power struggles, ancient weapon, Toki’s life before escaping Void Century and kitetsu curse/black blade lore preluding to Zoro’s powercreep instead of Enma crap.

Also a proper Kaido’s backstory about the Oni race getting nuked by Imu, cause of his depression and how much he knows about Joyboy/final war with Xebec reference which makes it way more impactful and will change people’s opinion about him.

Less Scabbard and Kozuki showing who are completely irrelevant to the plot. That also would cut a lot unnecessary crap in the future.

No Big Mom there, leave her for Elbaf where she has actual plot relevance
No Yamato, not even because of the hate but because there's no need
Make Orochi competent and strong, boom Zoro fight settled so he can kill Hyori's tormentor with her sword
Have the three captains defeat Kaido together
No Nika or Looney Tunes bs - G5 can still affect the environment/others and even look the same. But cut out the unnecessary fat
Cut out the Numbers and half the Scabbards. Have the rest of the Scabbards have more flashed out characters.
-Oden character redo - have him not be braindead
In fact redo the whole flashback - don't have the Roger pirates visit if they'll not fight Kaido on sight and help their friend, make Orochi's rise to power more believable and Sakuyaki less idiotic, have the citizens of Wano reflect 20 years of Orochi's rule by being brainwashed against the Kozuki completely

Basically most of the stuff @Buusatan94 wrote

Delete the entire Olin sequence

Delete the entire sequence of BM vs Page 1/Ulti/Nami and whoever, either have her take them out or don't no in betweens

Keep drawing more roofpiece 5v2

Remake King's abilities

Reduce number of Samurai's to 7, kill of at least 3 of them

Delete clown moments like Kinemon surviving, if he's left alive avoid wasting readers time altogether by drawing such a scenario

Have some more BMP enter Wano

Maybe more things to add but that's for starters

Wano:
- Allow Big Moms crew to enter the country to actually allow the Kid and Law pirates to be impactful.
- Make Yamato someone who was inspired by Oden but normally, genuinely just making her more like Dalton would’ve made her character 100000x better
- Eliminate most of Act 1 and 2. Really speed up the story and get rid of BM amnesia plot make her attack udon because she wants to kill Luffy.
- Onigashima eliminate the run piece, don’t waste chapters with it.
- Keep Drake and Apoo on the BMP sides and fight Chopper and Brook respectively
- Make Orochi a skilled swordsman and actually cool
- Change the ending to make the Dawn and lanterns thematically important. (Have Luffy take the flames from the lanterns and use that in the final punch against Kaido mirroring Ace attacking the statue as well would’ve been wayyyy better than big fist)

Egghead:
- Don’t bring the other gorosei
- Let Luffy actually beat Kizaru

Wano:
Big Mom defeats Kid/Law, then goes to Kaido. Kaido + Big Mom V awakened Nika Luffy, in his first transformation the Zoan will of Nika takes over Luffy, leading to Luffy Nika beating both Kaido and Big Mom in a 1v2, then he goes on a bit of a rampage and beats up some of the other straw hats when they don't understand why he seems different and apathetic. Eventually Luffy regains his sense of will.

In Egghead instead of the pointless plot depower, he has to worry about not losing his sense of self and going on a rampage, like he did in Wano and that is his "time limit".

Egghead:
Everything proceeds the same, just that Kizaru is KO'ed, all the "power downs" of Luffy are replaced with him not wanting the Zoan form to take over instead.

Wano:
- Remove Kawamatsu and Kiku. There are only 7 scabbards (Kurosawa docet).
- Less Samurai glazing, showing also the nasty and cruel ones.
- Yamato is still here, but her Oden’s obsession, is more an obsession of what Oden represents at her eyes. She has been living in such an isolation that she didn’t even develop a word to say “free”, which for her became “Oden”.
- Orochi rather than cruel and coward, is a strong and ruthless samurai, he was Oden’s “Vegeta”, the second strongest samurai in Wano but always one step below his rival, he has always been envious and obsessed by Oden, especially because he secretly envy him for being so free-spirited. Contrary to Oden he has an isolationist philosophy and in his own twisted way he believes he’s doing what he’s doing for the “greater good”.
- Yamato beats Orochi after a tough fight, shouting “I am Oden” (which to her means I am free) while delivering the last blow in front of Momonosuke’s teary eyes.
- Yamato actually joins the crew.
- No Big mom and Big mom pirates.
- Numbers are actually strong.
- No gear 5th, Luffy’s power up in this arc are advanced COA and COO
- Sanji vs Queen is longer and the latter show more of his arsenal.
- Zoro vs King is slightly longer.
- Kaido (together with King) is a failed hero kind of character, he is depressed because years ago he has discovered that he’s not Joyboy, from that moment he lost any self-esteem and hope to liberate the world from the current system and he became depressed and a heavy drinker to cope. The suicidal thing is a megalomaniac act that gives him the thrill of thinking himself invincible. He seeks a grandiose death but deep down he knows that he’s not worthy of it. Moreover, when the possibility of death approaches he actually feels fear, more than death what scares him, is the thought that if he dies in that moment his life would have amounted to nothing, therefore he plans a Great War that will destroy the WG, and in which he will be able to die proudly.
He contrasts Luffy as he, instead, despite being far weaker unities people, brings peace rather than war wherever he goes and is actually ready to die at any moment for his dream.
- Final fight is Luffy, Kid, Law vs Kaido. Kid and Law display here their awakening. Luffy unlock COC coating but Kaido wins round one. Zoro beats King before as it happened in the manga. Then he takes the after that medication to fight Kaido, Kaido has come down and is decimating the allies forces, killing everyone on his path (Kin’emon, Izo and Ashura die by his hands in a single brutal heartbreaking chapter), confrontation with Yamato and then he KOs her, Zoro then reaches Kaido, despite being completely overwhelmed he holds him a couple of minutes and hits him with ashura, Kid and Law arrives, they use their strongest awakening moves severely damaging Kaido, but then they fall out of exhaustion and Kaido stands up again in front of them, they’re In disbelief, and they losing any hope they accept death. It is THEN that Luffy comes, grabbing him from the roof with G3 and the final round starts. The Skysplit happens, and after a long, exhausting, extremely bloody fight Luffy’s wins, while Momo brings Onigashima to safety, he has now become a “great pirate”.
- At the end of the arc Jack, Ulti and P1 joins Kid pirates and Drake, WW and Black Maria joins Law.
- Luffy has a 3 billion bounty. Kid and Law 2 billion each.
- At the end of the arc Ryokugyu comes and Luffy fights him on an even ground. Then he proclaims Wano his territory in front of him, and as everyone unleash their weapon at the same time he says something like “if you want to fight further, then it will be war!”, and THEN Ryokugyu decides to retire (not that Shanks promotional film bullshit).

Here just some, it ain’t much, but one would need a lot of perfume to cover the stench of that Zunisha sized shit of an arc.

Here I come.

Luffy arrives in Wano, he does all his shenanigans until he meets Kaido who thunder bagua and kills him. Leaving a conqueror haki user who is both the son of Dragon and the nephew of Garp is too dangerous, also Kaido knew a bit what happened in Marineford war and knows Luffy has a great destiny before him, so he dies.

The SHs are mentally destroyed by the news, they have not the force or even the will to fight Kaido who simply flies away while sobering up (the SHs are basically in the same condition as Kidd crew when Shanks one shotted Kidd and Killer). Eventually they regroup and Zoro finds them / they find him. Upon hearing the news or seeing Luffy body (what fits your tastes the most) he is destroyed but is also enraged like hell and wants revenge (he is also pissed at the other SHs but at the same time is glad because they didn't throw away their lives for nothing).

Zoro goes alone to get his revenge on Kaido. The other SHs who have seen Kaido casually killing Luffy with a single hit try to persuade Zoro but there is no way to do so. In the end Sanji goes with him while the others regroup on the Sunny waiting and hoping for Sanji to convince Zoro and come back so that they can escape asap.

Kaido is sleeping soundly in Onigashima yet that doesn't matter much. Zoro and Sanji are pissed as hell at this point and do a disaster in the flower capital. They defeat Denjiro, Orochi and whatever appears before them, eventually Jack arrives and after a quite difficult fight they defeat him collaborating. At this point they are tired but there is still no Kaido. King and Queen arrive, Zoro and Sanji are defeated quite easily despite giving their all. Yet in the end they are saved by the Wano citizens who riot after seeing somebody doing such damage to the Beast pirates after only their lord Oden had the guts and strength to do so. Countless people die but Zoro and Sanji are brought away and saved by the Wano citizens.

After the canonical 3 days they awake, Zoro recognizes that as things are right now they have no chance to defeat Kaido or even King and Queen. Hyori founds Zoro and does the Enma - Shusui exchange. Also we get some infos about black blades and Zoro secretly visit the grave of Ryuma to pay homage (take that Oda), Sanji get some recipes.

With a heavy hearth Zoro and Sanji regroup with the SHs who hid in a secret bay and leave Wano knowing that Kaido will go bibi on the citizens of Wano. They make a oath to come back to exact revenge for their captain and the people of Wano who saved Z and S. I don't like this point, I don't know what to do with them, but it would for sure happen since it is logic: they take Tama and Momo with them (I guess I will eventually kill one or the both of them). The scabbards stay back in Wano to have a last fight with the Beast pirates and protect the citizens of Wano (honestly the Sunny is crowded enough at this point).

Maybe I will add something later, I don't know if they should go to Egghead at this point, probably not.
