General & Others I dislike how Sabo was written

if I consider someone my family then I will also consider them my family even if I did not see them for 10 years.
same as you I was never a friend of Sabo as a character. he does not bring anything new to the table and is essentially an Ace stand-in. giving him the Mera was the definite proof of that.
Luffy already had a connection to the revolutionaries with his father. another link is redundant.
I do not hate the character or am annoyed by him though. I simply do not care.

Luffy/Ace/Sabo didn't have a normal childhood.
If you got beat up and tortured by a violent adult and two young kids rescue you
and you share a sacred oath of brotherhood
and you share your future dreams (that you still hold on to with fervent passions today)
and you have one brother supposedly die in mysterious circumstances
and have a full childhood with the other brother, honoring the memory of the "fallen" brother all the time, to the point that Ace gets a tattoo and still talks about Sabo
and then your other brother dies in front of your face
and then you find out the other brother had amnesia and didn't really die
I think that warrants the emotional response we got from Luffy/Sabo.
If Luffy didn't view Sabo as his brother anymore, he would be spitting on the same sacred oath he made with Ace and basically saying he wasn't brothers with him either.
