General & Others Imagine if Pain ran away from Jiraiya. Oda made BB run away instead of taking a W.

- he can't let go off boa as she would turn him to stone
- he can't fight someone like ray with one hand
- can't use gura gura as it would destroy the statues of his crew mates killing them
- he was in a checkmate and chose to take the deal and retreat.
if only not picking unnecessary fights was withing BB's character or something it's not like he has ever done that before:josad:
Naruto stans, aka people with poor reading skills and low understanding of basic concepts, are just interested in bashing a much better series than theirs. As such, they are not interested in actually having a dialogue, otherwise they would have read these posts, taken their L and just admit that they were wrong. But given the above mentioned characteristics that they possess, that's just wishful thinking.

As for me, I just am enjoying their endless salt, stuck in their hell where Naruto second half was almost complete crap, 99% of the side characters filled and forgotten, and One Piece still flies high. And the proof of this is that instead of making their peace with reality, they are here shitposting in their free time, where they could enjoy their life instead of showing their saltiness.

Blackbeard couldn't take a win here. Rayleigh can't defeat him but is troublesome enough to require his attention and hurt him in a significant way if given the chance, which also means exposing himself to Boa Hancock (which is the most dangerous factor there, he himself stated it) and probably Coby. Considering that two of his main adversaries weren't devil fruit users and he couldn't freely use the Gura Gura fruit as it risked his own subordinates... Well, the picture is clear.

People are overthinking this situation even though it's just another "I have no idea how this can be solved" scenario from Oda. Blackbeard taking a win meant Hancock dying and that's not happening for obvious reasons. The author could have shown the resolution instead of vaguely telling that everything worked out (I don't know, by Rayleigh, Shakky or whoever risking themselves as a hostage while Hancock unpetrifies everyone so she doesn't try anything dumb), but he decided to draw a veil over it.

At the end, Blackbeard was in disadvantage. Hancock was tricky and a powerful support appeared out of nowhere. No need to play dumb.

As I said before in another thread, One Piece makes me feel like rooting for the antagonists, the real underdogs in Lolda's story. Blackbeard gained nothing this chapter, its a joke.
Why couldn’t Oda just have Shiryu attack Rayleigh from the back…

It would have hyped up Zoro’s future opponent and make the BBPs actually look threatening. Instead we get Burgess being clowned in Dressrosa, Shot and Devon treated like background fodder, and BB looking incompetent

All the problems with top tier portrayals is coming from Oda OVERPROTECTING the big players. Oda simply refuses to have top tiers fight each other UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Which causes the result that we have: a top tier appears, everyone is hyped, then the top tier disappears without fighting anyone or doing anything. Greenbull and Blackbeard are perfect examples for this!

There's nothing wrong in top tiers fighting, losing and coming back–nothing wrong at all. That doesn't dehype them, especially when the author can put top tier X in a situation where he cannot win so by losing he doesn't dehype himself. For example: Greenbull in Wano was against one top tier + multiple high tiers and commanders, there's no way that he can win with that–so he shouldn't. And a good author can make Greenbull look good why losing showing that he's fearless and doesn't back down. Instead, we've got the humiliation with Shanks.

Then we have the Blackbeard situation, where Oda had to hype the SSG, but he simply didn't have any character for that purpose, so he used Blackbeard. And in order to save Boa from certain death, he pulled the Rayleigh card, and then tried to fix things by having Rayleigh to admit that he's weaker than Blackbeard.

Why not give BB the W? Perfect opportunity to hype up your end game antagonist. Make BB split the sky with Rayleigh, anything other than running away. BB going to Amazon Lilly for a devil fruit makes no sense, seems completely random. BB went to Amazon Lilly specifically to capture a character with a devil fruit and comes out of Amazon Lilly by kidnapping a character with no devil fruit. A wasted opportunity for one of your end game Antagonist. When BB kidnapped Ace, there was coherent set up, it wasn't random. We also got to see a page and half of Ace vs BB and it made BB look great. BB came out of that fight with a W. But comparing this Koby/BB situation to the Ace situation is night and day.

Also, what was the point of the BB vs Balitgo Dragon offscreen incident? What was the point of that subplot? Dragon is fine with attacking Baltigo and Dragon but isn't fine with Rayliegh. Incoherent story lines.

Edit: I used the Jiraiya Pain reference since Jiraiya and Rayleigh are so similar character wise. Rayleigh could have had his Jiraiya moment. Also, I wanted to poke fun at Oda writing at the same time.
The main point of this chapter was to get Coby out of the way, give him some parallels with Garp and asspull Admiral Coby in the last chapter of the story.

PS: when BB decided to go after Boa he had a 2.2B bounty, he got a 1.8b increase for pissing in the sea.

how do you bring 2 hyped characters back to back and make them run away ASAP within less than 10 chaps total
:crazwhat::crazwhat:
Atleast hyping Shanks makes sense since he has a role left to play.

Hyping an Old Rayleigh who doesn't have a role left to play at the cost of a future opponent in Teach is just so extra lmao. The only thing it did was shut up the crowd who recently started to shit on Rayleigh due to a lack of focus in the Oden flashback. BB will likely have his time anyway but it's a bit of an odd move.

Oda "Sabo will ... Vivi will ... Hancock will ...."

Fans : WOW ACTUAL TENSION AND STAKES ????

Lolda : Jk they're all totally fine
Because Oda is an originality-obsessed whore who changes the outcome of a plot just for shock value rather than changing it for an unforeseen flaw. The entire point of Oda sending Teach to Amazon Lily was to get Koby abducted and linked with him in a future plot Oda thought about probably two weeks ago while taking a shit.

It's as if he was thinking: "Let's bring Wang Zhi that got absolutely no spotlight before despite ruling a pirate paradise to get Koby involved with Teach and establish his future arc role. Wait, where's Koby again? Oh shit yeah he's going after Hancock right, welp let's just drop that plotline in trash, make Teach drive-by and pick him up lol".

This is gonna make me look like as if I am still salty over the recent past, but Lolda's unwillingness to go through with ZKK should be an alarm bell for the readers in that he's got his priorities all skewed when it comes to payoffs after the time skip. No ZKK was simply its most famous symptom, but by no means is it the only one. :jordanmf:

This only happens because Oda refuses any major character to fight each other, it's kinda ridiculous at this point...

Most top tier characters will severely lack feats by the time the story ends, they will only have feats against the SH at best which is a shame.

Oda's clearly past his prime, but some of you are making preemptive judgments. Maybe wait to see where this Coby plotline goes before dismissing it as pointless to the story? It's the same thing with people complaining about Ryokugyu showing up to Wano for "no reason" when, lo and behold, the latest chapter confirmed he made Yamato realize her purpose in life.
