Since Luffy is in a serious battle vs Imu now, and seriously wounded already, meaning the fight will get even more serious from now on so the question is how Akainu vs Luffy can be exciting?

We see Aokiji (Akainu's equal) also fought in a serious battle vs Old Garp, and even then Aokiji needed Shiryu's stab and Pizarro's island power forcing Garp to keep fighting, so they could capture him. So basically mean Akainu level power such as Aokiji's wasn't enough vs Old Garp, so how it can be enough vs Luffy who is fighting Imu right now.

This might be similar to after Luffy defeats Kaido, he fought Kizaru. It didn't feel like downgrade because Kizaru had Saturn backing him up then other 4 Gorosei also showed up.

Now if we assume Luffy will return and fight Imu, his fight vs Akainu won't be exciting at all.

It could be like Luffy vs multiple opponents; Kizaru+Saturn example.

Is Luffy vs Akainu will be a long, death match like 1 vs 1 battle? Or will other characters interfere so it won't be that serious?

I personally like Sabo or Dragon fighting Akainu more, but Luffy might also fight him then they can separate in a team battle.

Personally, I see Akainu as Doflamingo to Imu's Kaidou,
And while Luffy is Main Opponent of WG, He is instead the Law of Akainu's Story, with Ace being his Rosinante,

So imo, Marines should be Defeated by another Pirate Crew that Luffy can Ally with,

Luffy's Marine Opponent will always be Kizaru imo,
While Akainu gets defeated by Shanks, Ryokugyu probably by Beckman, and Fujitora by Mihawk,

luffy is way too weak for imu, akainu might be an appropriate training tool to get stronger. also, the scar still aches. had eric the whirlwind killed ace right before luffy's eyes, even he would be an exciting villain. luffy will not return to fight imu for many many chapters. elbaf will be followed by new marineford, then moon arc and bb fight, then laughtale (true history, imu's crimes revealed) and only then will luffy overcome imu.

It's a huge step back, because Egghead proved that an admiral poses no threat to Luffy, and Kizaru is comparable to Akainu, so if Akainu is only slightly stronger, that barely matters. Not to mention Luffy fought Kizaru and Saturn at the same time and suffered no consequences from it, dominating both of them. So it doesn't matter if Akainu is a bit stronger than Kizaru or not.
