Didn't point out that Kishi and Kubo have better writing skills but just the popularity of Bleach and Naruto is better outside of Japan.

Oda is not a top tier writer no matter how loud you will try to whine and complain. He is a mediocre writer and the last time this manga was under "good writing" was before time skip.

Miura and Togashi eat him alive writing wise.

Never was and never will be. He's above average at best. The only reason One Piece sell so many copies is because of good promotion and advertisement mainly in Japan. One Piece is not even half as popular as it is in Japan in comparison to shows like Naruto or Bleach who rocked overseas.

If his writing is "one of the best writing in the history" for you then I recommend leaving ur lovely bubble of chinese cartoons and read some books and stuff that is actual good writing.


Oda would not even rank in top 50 greatest writers ever overall.

He wouldn't crack top 50 if not top 100 greatest writers in the world.

He is just a decent writer.

In manga world he might get more recognition.

He lost his touch after the time skip. Pre time skip he was a good writer for manga standards. Right now? Bunch of plot holes which don't seem to get resolved, stupidity in terms of power scaling characters, stupidity in writing characters personalities and stuff and zero logic applied.
