Questions & Mysteries Is there any single argument for Shanks ending the marineford war that doesn't involve theories or circular logic?

1. Theory. Shanks is a celestial dragon/he met with Gorosei that's why they stopped.

This is a theory not canon. A simple explanation is that Shanks is just the most reasonable of the Yonko hence why he allowed a seat at reverie.

2. The marines would have won because they have multiple people as strong as shanks

This is the 2nd argument used, its completely circular. The marines would have won because admirals and Yonko are equals. That's an argument people unironically use.

Its nonsense. Why? Because the war ended on Shanks terms. He challenged the entirety of marineford to a fight. They backed down. It was pretty clear from reading in a non powerscaling way Shanks had a good shot at winning.

Both the Elders and the marines view them as invincible. That's how that interaction makes sense. Fanboys will troll though with the cringey 'gorosei snitch'. They can't handle that had the war continued the marines would have been finished

Shanks felt confident in his threat and we know he cares for his crew and wouldn't enter into a suicide mission. The other parties also agreed with his assessment that he would win as they declined the fight.

Marines wanted to continue the war. Only Sengoku, the one with the highest authority at the time, gave the order to end the War. There literally was no point in continuing the fighting as the objectives of the War had been met with Ace and WB dead.

Not only did Shanks end the war he dictated every term. You can only do that if you are the stronger party period
