Luffy doesn't take the easy fights. In order to grow exponentially you always have to fight someone significantly more powerful than yourself. Also Luffy does have a higher ceiling than most and actually went through the process of learning and developing his CoC. He didn't just acquire the ability yesterday unlike some people.

Another one of the greatest asspulls of Wano and all of One Piece is Momonosuke being able of harming Kaido and him being able of fighting an admiral even though he was portrayed as just a child before Shinobu aged him and that he had absolutely no training nor fighting experience to justify him being able of taking on some of the strongest people in the world with extremely powerful df, haki, physical abilities and fighting skills achieved with decades of experience.

Him having the voice of all things was okay but this was pure bs.

Ryou + CoC= Coating yourself in CoC

Luffy already had access to CoC and had just learned an advanced application of Ryou. The only thing left to do was put it together.
