I think most of the people here are stuck in their romantic fantasy world where chivalry and sumarai honor is regularly followed.

In real life, most of that stuff is propaganda and gets tossed out the windows.
People do what they need to do to survive and get to the top.
Itll be dumb for who's who and queen to risk taking on drake on their own and possibly lose. Better they quickly eliminate him before he joins with the enemy, which they failed at.
