I can see this. Yamato to Oden would be like mid generation to Roger at his execution. With how far Oda has gone with Oden, I wouldn't be surprised that he inspired at least one important individual at his execution. Someone that hasn't been his retainer and Oden doesn't know about.

Gonna check later if i can find a child chilling around while Odens execution.

Yamato was probably at Oden's execution. We'll probably get treated to a scene of Oden saying something right before he dies, that wasn't in the initial flashback, and it will have turned out to have inspired Yamato. That'll be why he dresses like him, and wears chains around his wrist, similar to how Oden had the chains on when he was boiled.
