Character Discussion Its been almost two years now

It's kinda funny, now that you mention it. Kaidou and Big Mom could combine to make a complete character. Kaidou had all the combat feats, character clowned. Big Mom had the character, her combat feats clowned.

Rare Park min Young L. Colossal L at that.
I like Hisoka more too but if I’m being objective then he doesn’t have much character either from my memory.

Kaido doesn't need a detailed flashback, not every villain is supposed to be complex. Kaido, Lucci are in similar ballpark as characters, Big Mom and Doflamingo are more complex than him.

Big Mom is a good character it's just Oda that clowns her too much in power.
Nah don't disrespect Lucci by putting him with Kaidou, it's not only that Kaidou needs a better flashback, Kaidou is just an inconsistent disaster.

>Wants to die ----> hides in Wano and shits his pants at the thought of another top tier approaching
>Wants a tough fair battle ----> shoots the old Hag, yet boils Oden instead of letting him rematch out of pure fear.

Lucci is an excellent character, one of Oda's best. Kaidou needed something to complete his character, his mindset on death wasn't properly explored.

I think Kaido is fine as a villain. Not a great one but decent nonetheless.

He is on same level as Lucci or enel for me. Doffy is the only villain far better than him.

🤣🤣🤣

Hey, I’ll stand by this. Strictly in terms of character depth then they’re both on the same page. I still know why Hisoka is more loved, he’s clear of Kaido in terms of charisma and nuance
You're not entirely wrong though. I don't need a Hisoka flashback and character depth, it's nice but not needed. I know who he is and what he represents. He is a character exciting in the now.

New World starting arcs (FMI, PH and Dressrosa) taking too long was the 1st blow at One Piss

Wedding Cake was the 2nd blow.

Oden and every little bit of dirt associated with him was 3rd blow.

1st blow set the whole story back

2nd blow ruined Big Mom

3rd blow ruined Kaido
Fuck Oden, his existence even ruined parts of Roger and WB’s image. Roger had to beg WB for Oden and WB looked like a total wuss not wanting to avenge him against Kaido. The great Oden flashback made 3 legends look worse 🤣

Yup. Also before the flashback I was so sure that the reason Oden was getting so wanked early on in the arc was because Oda planned to hype up the main arc villain for beating him, cementing his status as the strongest. Instead we got Kaido getting clapped, winning through a distraction and getting Oden PTSDs for the remaining of his life.
Fuck Oden

His depression and Wano will be explained in Rocks flashback. I think this is the main reason why it hasn’t been revealed yet.

Kaido was wasted, in the opposite way of how Big Mom was wasted by Oda, with him getting so little personality development, so little backstory and so little interactions and dynamics with his own crewmates.
Sad part is there is implied to be so much history been Kaido and King.

King was his first crewmate and started the BP together.
King influenced him so much that it's implied Kaido thought he was Joyboy himself at some point, and then later came to think he wasn't anymore (how this shift in perspective happened is another abandoned plot point).
King only shows his face when alone with Kaido.
During both their defeats, they saw each other in flashbacks.

There is so much implied, but nothing shown on screen.
The entire thing was ridiculously rushed, while Loda wasted time on a lot of nonsense (which also got abandoned/ went nowhere eventually).

Feels like Oda wanted to do much more than what was written, but scraped them for whatever reason. Worse, he rushed or abandoned the most important aspects.
Retarded writing.

IMO Wano would've been a masterpiece if it went on till 1100 chapters, with all/most plot points and character moments being addressed, or having some form of closure.
Instead we got dogshit surpassed only be Egghead.

It's criminal how little developped Kaido's relations and dynamics with Queen, Jack, Bao Huang and the Flying Fighters were.
