But he still isn't saying that he is God. All this proves is that Jesus is some sort of supernatural entity, which is in line with his claim that he is the Son of God. But he cannot literally be God because he always refers to God as a separate entity.
Should I really take the time to explain this to an anime-only viewer even after giving them the reading list? Do you think rocks were thrown at him because he claimed he was a "supernatural entity" in a world where those were regularly held to be true in Judaism? Are you a Zoro fan by any chance?
You've obviously missed the significance of his declarations. When he says, "I am" throughout John, that is a clear reference to what God told Moses in Exodus. God explicitly tells Moses, "Thus you shall say to the Israelites, '
I Am has sent me to you.'" When Jesus says, "I am," he is explicitly placing himself not only on the level of the God from the Old Testament but as being God Himself.
And no matter what he said during his lifetime, the fact that he prayed to God when he was nearing his death and cried out to him during crucifixion proves that either interpretations of Jesus claiming godhood are incorrect or if Jesus truly did claim godhood, he was lying or delusional.
Did you even read anything on the reading list? I know you didn't because anime-only fans can't read of course. I mean, it's especially clear when you say, "No matter what he said in his lifetime" and then try to fall back on something he said to argue your point. "Argue" because this is just a "joke" thread.
John 1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God."
John 1: "And
the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known."
Word = God
Word = Jesus
Jesus = God
Jesus being God is 100% Biblical. There. It's not Jesus saying it but a third person.
