Am I the only one who felt completely underwhelmed by Jinbei’s return? I expected a bigger payoff for him to be missing so many chapters. I mean, compared to other amazing entrances in the series like Luffy punching Crocodile, or Sanji saving Usopp from Jabra, it just felt really lame. An easy fix for this would’ve been to just have Jinbei save Momo imo

Well given all the PIS we went through in the manga I didn't even flinch :kayneshrug:

I have seen much worse but anyways

I like him as a character but I hope Oda won't show him too overpowered at the same time still

What I don't like is that he seemingly is fine. He doesn't look like he lost anything or is hurt. Yeah, his reappreance was anticlimatic and kind of random, but at least give him an injury, 'cause he just escaped from BM's territory.

No, he returned, that suffices. And he can still do more, the next chapter or so.
And destroying the ships makes sense and is what one would expect. Saving Momo I think would have been corny and would have made Momo being taken hostage more gimmicky than it already is.
And the situation just wasn't very dramatic (Momo withwistanding) to warrant or require some super-dramatic entry. The forces are already pretty strong and the real conflict has just begun. The entry can therefore be seen as more "wholesome" than heroic or a relief.
One can also say his getting left behind wasn't all that dramatic or doubtful, and Luffy ordering him to return (Pirate King-like) was sort of taking care both of his absence and return in terms of drama or impact.

It was disappointing but not surprising given all the characters escaping or turning out to befine thanks to plot armor moments in One Piece such as Pell surviving the bomb, Pagaya being uninjured after being struck by Enel's lightning, all the Straw Hats' allies surviving the Buster Call in a particulary BS way, all the supernovas escaping death or capture at Saobody, Mr 2 surviving the encounter with Magellan, the victims of Shinokuni turning out to be alive or Dressrosa citizens all surviving the Birdcage.

Definitely disappointing in a way to me, but I'm going to wait until this chapter to make the final call. I didn't hate it, I'm super stoked Oda didn't wait long to bring him back, but I just figured it'd be more dramatic than what we got. Though, people need to realize Oda kept Jinbe away for multiple reasons:

- Like Neko, the arc was already getting bloated. You might as well cut as many characters as you can until the main battle starts. Oda definitely struggled to give many characters meaningful moments in the arc. The arc was mainly about the War anyway. Its where everyone should shine.
- It was a means to have Luffy escape in that moment while making Big Mom seem competent. More ridiculous things like Luffy's entire force escaping the Buster Call at Enies Lobby have happened. Really easy to accept he escaped after.
- It was a means to branch both arcs together (WCI and Wano are essentially 1 arc at this point, considering nearly every undefeated character from WCI is here). The only difference is that Caesar and Germa may not show up (totally being saved for Vegapunk)

I personally have no problem with that, even though I expected some scars or whatsoever... And even if it's a Yonko they're facing, they're fishmen at the sea... I find it lame for a group of powerful fishmen to lose in a sea battle against DF users...

All I'm waiting right now is a major death from a well-known villain... It's one of the things missing from the story... I have yet to see a villain dying, even minor, non-fodder ones...

Wano has been full of lackluster moments that Oda has teased before.

Sanji using the RS really early in the arc was disappointing.

Oden cutting Kaido wasn’t nearly as epic or earned as it should have been.

Jinbe returning to take out a ship that multiple people were also capable of. No big hero entrance.

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Marco arrives after the battle is over.

I'm a huge Jinbe fan and found it lack luster. I'm glad he's back but Oda needs to explain why he's been excluded from the crew for so long and what he's lost. It better be something more interesting than "Jinbe can't join right now".

Because otherwise it seems to me that the reason Jinbe didn't join after Fishman Island and WCI is because Jinbe was an OP Warlord who had already explored the New World.

Can you imagine Dressrosa with Jinbe? The threat would've been reduced because it would have have been Luffy + 2 Warlords vs Doffy. There would be no mystery because I'm sure he's been there and knows how things work in the underworld.

Also even the beginning of Wano, if Jinbe was there they would've had no issue with the whirlpool and would never have been separated.

So come on Oda give us a good reason!

LMAO. Get over it already. Jinbe is officially a Straw hat now. Just enjoy the ride.
