JJK 198 Spoilers

You're showing clear bias here.
Yuji's Black Flashes were a result of his prior training that spanned through couple of chapters. With an established character.

Gojo's power up happened of screen because he was near death, dude. It was about him descovering RCT and through that refining his CE control even more.

But you just brush that away, especially the Yuji example, to make the recent developments seem better than they are.

Katana and Sumo have spent their WHOLE time in the manga teaching Maki. Todo existend unrelated to Yuji before they even met, and then interacted with Yuji extensively both physicaly and mentaly all on page.

Maki got half a chapter of on page training and we are supposed to call that equal and deserved?
Dude what? Maki didn’t just go from scrub to Toji-level, Zenin clan was already comparing her to Toji already way before this. What you said about Yuji also applies to Maki. She got the perfect HR but not the mindset and then with a mentor got the mindset. Established character or not the process is the same.

“Equal and deserved” Bro Maki was literally set up to be the next Toji. Megumi called Toji a fully realized Maki. Gege said that Maki would get to Toji’s level sooner or later through epiphany not through “years of experience” or “battling many opponents”. Toji's level of ability is NOT something that's attainable organically through training. It's all binding vows and epiphanies, just like it's been all this time. Let’s not gas Gojo and diss Maki for the same shit.

I didn’t brush away Yuji or Gojo’s ways of doing things because that’s in line with how JJK folks get their power ups. Maki’s is no different fundamentally. It’s all freedom of the mind.

If it’s the sudden appearance of mentors that’s bothering you though then I can accept that. Shit was random so I can’t blame people for it but it’s not like they just dropped dead after, they’re still alive with purpose. They’re more useful than Charles at least who really didn’t do anything but provide a start JP for Hakari to fight Kashimo.

This applies to Daido and Miyo too if we're being fair

:suresure:

Daido appeared, was thrown the katana, and put in work for about 5 panels before Miyo appeared and gave Maki the training she needed to work through her mental block

Hell, the only reason they did ANYTHING in 197 is cause Maki let him keep the katana temporarily

When she landed that punch on Naoya she could've killed him with a weapon

Every single character involved (Charles, Daido, and Miyo) fulfilled one purpose and have "potential" for the future

It's just that in Charles' case it wasn't AS jarring at the time

You're thinking about this in the Dragon Ball way. The "training" here isn't physical. It's all mental. The Toji "level" was always about the mindset. It was never about the skill or strength or speed. Instead of thinking like the mob, she learned to think outside of it. Mindset/mentality is a legitimate power-up in JJK. It's how Sukuna was deemed an unstoppable force.

The mindset principle let Yuji hit more than four BFs, breaking the record, it helped Megumi use his DE successfully for the first time. Mindset let Gojo become the strongest. And Maki was definitely in a life or death situation there too, she was so desperate as to give Mai's sword to a random stranger.

Maki becoming Toji's equal after mindset change makes the most sense because that's what the problem always was in the first place, that's what the story told us. Once she solved that it was game over.
Post automatically merged:

Sounds like Mai's sword has soul-cutting properties and needs super senses to use fully. :snoopy: So Gege gave Maki a training arc just so he could reveal the effects of Mai's sword too. :crazwhat:

“At last, a demon to match Toji Zenin has been perfected.” Editor’s note: The rebirth of a god!! :finally:WAKI
Bro, you're wrong.

1. if a random guy comes up to you on the street and says "lol, think differently", your mindset will not change.
2.The appearance of Naoya does not make sense. It was not he who awakened any feelings or ideas in Maki (or in her blade). He wasn't the one who gave Maki the clue about how Toji became so strong. It was a random sumo-guy.
3. It was different with Yuji. They explained to him how to use his energy correctly. It didn't allow him to become 10,000 times faster, did it? Because there are physical limitations.
4. Kamo is still useless garbage that hasn't done anything in the colony.

1. Stupid oversimplification of 2-3 chapters' worth of development that Maki was already beginning to see what she was lacking.

But I guess if a random guy tries to kill you and then suddenly calls you little brother and helps you out, you will not just suddenly trust him either too right? Imagine comparing this to a real life situation LMAO someone's forgetting that they're reading fiction for young adults. :suresure:

2. Literally explained in Ch. 192 why Naoya came back or are you reading this story backwards? :watchout:

3. Sumo guy trained her and told her what she was lacking in mindset. Sumo is an analogy to freedom of mind that Maki lacked. If you don't understand simple allegories laid out to us in a single chapter then that's on you.

4. Kamo can legit hang with Grade 1 sorcerers, bought time for Maki to recover and assisted her in the early fights. Compare that to Panda another student from last colony who didn't do anything to help Hakari at all, only job and actually get weaker since his best cores are now gone.

Maki is now the worst character in jujutsu, this was the worst arc and fight and chapter of all time

Maki sue as the rest said

Naoya is fighting maki and activates his Domain while he's facing her but doesn't focus on her when he sees she isn't there?

Naoya shouldn't have been able to detect katana and sumo because they're not characters they're literally plot devices they just join and train and help maki? really?

Maki couldn't even notice naoya at first but 4 chapters later she low diffs him in his own domain expansion

1/10

Yeah he doesn’t have and yet Naoya domain still hit him and Naoya managed to « sense » him….
I'll need to read the full chapter before knowing what actually happened Lel. I am just going off of others talking. But looks more and more like some random asspuls.
