As for Luffy, it is clear, he is Joyboy or his will incarnated, who dates back til 800 years ago before the void century. Im is his counter part and head of the world government or even the whole world, probably also dating back til before the void century.

What is Blackbeard's role though? Who does he represent? As we know, he also is a counterpart of some sort to Luffy, and Im obviously has an aversion towards him too, given how he cut into pieces both Luffy's and Blackbeard's wanted poster.

Some say, that,
Luffy/Joyboy = freedom
Im = order
Blackbeard = chaos

While this might be true, who is his role model? It might be Xebec, but Xebec lived not so long ago and doesn't go way back before the void century started and where this history as we know it started.

The Gorosei also said that Blackbeard is the first one known to them who could consume 2 DF powers, which means there probably wasn't an equivalent from back then either.

Is he just a failed Joyboy? Since Whitebeard said that he is not the one Roger is waiting for. Yet, Im doesn't discard him despite Luffy had all the parallels with Joyboy to worry about.

Just a speculation


I think the ancient kingdom had Joyboy (righteous) and another D (chaotic).


As you have said, IM is about order but to defeat Joyboy, IM took advantage of the internal rifts between Ancient Kingdom.



Joyboy vs that chaotic D could be two Lineage within ancient Kingdom with both believing in fate and dreams but one cherish freedom and the second is about chaos thus putting both of them as similar yet different.


IM took advantage of this situation to defeat Ancient kingdom. Maybe Joyboy body is in the Marijioie



Luffy vs BB could represent those two D's.



The prophecy that 20 years ago someone will come to save wano is incomplete. The prophecy was someone after 800 years ago will rise to defeat IM.

Fearing this, WG wiped out any signs of D and erased all information.


But when present time came up, IM had pictures of all the lights which indicates he was following closely with what's happening around the world. Why someone who is so secluded and at the top will care about some 4 people until he was already aware that this will happen in today's time.



Luffy vs BB will happen and Luffy will win.


But at the end we will see Luffy and BB going against world government

His role model is definitely Rocks, that’s why he named his flagship after him and took his old island.

The D’s are not a homogenous group- Oda’s tried to make it so that no group in One Piece, broadly, is. They are good pirates, revolutionaries, civilians, evil pirates and Marines. We’ll probably see Blackbeard as the cumulation of centuries worth of chaos seeking D‘s, much as Luffy is the culmination of centuries seeking liberation.

I won’t be overly surprised if in the Void Century flashback everything is kicked off by a proto-Blackbeard D doing something with an Ancient Weapon.

since Oda likes to use religion and mythology it could be a case of cain and abel and the traitor turned into the Celestial Dragons

Blackbeards/Rocks descendant was a D clan member who killed off the original JoyBoy through traitorous actions. Im Sama the original Rouge to JoyBoy lost herself because of it. What the original Blackbeard descendant did to kill JoyBoy was directly due to JoyBoy wanting to open up the world, be friends with the UW and that’s why Im is directly opposed to all of it.

Imo:

Luffy represents Freedom ("We'll protect everything"! "The one with the most freedom is Pirate King!" "Say you wanna live!" "You are my nakama!")

Teach represents Fate ("Let the heavens deal with life and death!" "There's no answer to be found!" "This is my age!"), he schemes and strategizes and goes through many trials but leave the results to fate

Imu represents Domination, he is the one controlling everything.
