General & Others Joyboy was born 900 years ago yet his defeat was at the end of the void century

As in he died around 800 years ago but he was born 900 years ago.

even if you think these aren’t precise ages, like maybe he was born 890 years ago instead of 900 exactly, still this means he must have been fully old by the end of the void century. As a comparison, he’d be older than Marineford Whitebeard and older than current Garp and older than current Rayleigh

This isn’t important except well, it’s extremely unlike Oda. Since when are 90 year olds the main characters of Oda flashbacks. Even this Rocks flashback with Harald and Rocks has both of them in their mid-late 40s (Harald’s giant years). It would be very strange if a freaking 90 year old was the main character of a flashback. Especially since this guy is supposed to be a Luffy parallel too.

And remember that there is great battle at the end of the Void century so Joyboy was fighting the biggest fight of his life as a 90 year old?

Anyway, maybe Oda wants to try something new or, Joyboy was a giant. If Joyboy was a giant then actually he died in his early 30s instead of in his 90s.

When has it been mentioned that Joyboy was defeated at the end of the VC? Just curious
Clover said the WG was formed from the defeat of the ancient kingdom. That happened at the end of the void century

I mean it’s possible that Joyboy had already died decades before and the WG fought random guys from the ancient kingdom but I doubt it

I think Joyboy is not a normal guy, Nika is implied that he may actually exist, Nika has lots of Bible connections in-universe, sun symbol in the middle of a cross, Kuma who takes a Bible with him a lot is implied to worship Nika, etc

Then this Joyboy guy, probably knowing Imu exist, told his friend Emet ( Emet meaning truth in hebrew ) that the haki he's giving him will save him or whoever else from danger, gave him basic conqueror's haki, and laughed about it, and we later saw that basic haki negged Imu's powers

He may be Nika in some way, and Nika may be the actual deity of One Piece

who told you he was born 900 years ago?

Also, even if he isn't a a giant, he could be a Buccaneer. Since they're human-giant hybrids, they should have longer lifespans as well.
Based on Vegapunk's message (chapters #1114-#1115), Joy Boy's full lifespan was the Void Century (he lived exactly 100 years). Therefore, he was probably a giant or had some giant's blood to justify this extremely long lifespan (although there are humans older than 100 years in One Piece, Joy Boy seemed to be in his prime).

Chapter #1114

It's BECAUSE of vegapunk yap that people don't remember anything

Man yapped for like 30 chapters and stretched out that shit so much he made g5 goofy blush. And there was hardly any new info for the readers.

So people just blocked it all out.

Gunko claims it had an effect on the world but we didn't see that besides momentary mass hysteria that seemed to vanish right after.
But I do suspect this'll come back to bite the CDs in the ass very soon.

Imu's Giant Frozen Hat probably doesn't belong to Joyboy. We saw Joyboy talking to Emet in the flashback and he looks around the size of a "normal" human. (Chapter 1122). Which raises a question of who that Giant Hat actually belongs to. It's possible that's actually Nika's Hat from the First World, but frankly we still don't know. If you look in the latest chapter 1160, there actually is a big guy (possibly a buccanner?) wearing a straw hat. I doubt that it's the same hat as the one on God Valley, but it's hard to say for sure.

I suppose Joyboy could have the power to shrink himself. Possibly using the Nika/Gum-Gum Fruit to shrink himself down. Basically, the opposite way Luffy usually uses it. But, I don't know why he'd do that while talking to Emet. It would kind of make sense for Joyboy to grow or shrink so he could talk to anyone he wants as "equals" at the same height, but in the only scene we see him, he's small. Who knows, though?

But, if Joyboy even has a drop of Giant blood in him, that could explain how he's so long lived. Even if he doesn't have enough Giant blood in him to make him Giant himself, he could still have slower aging than a "normal" human. He might only age half as fast as a "normal" human. Not the same slower speed as the full-blooded Giants, but slower than a normal human. Making him appear about 50, while still being 100 years old, or something.

We also have to remember, Joyboy grew up in the Ancient Kingdom. They were a highly advanced society. Just like how we're living longer in the real world, due to advances in medicine, it's possible the people of the Ancient Kingdom lived longer and looked younger, because of their advanced medicine. You'd be surprised what the right combination of vitamins can do. Joyboy might be "made of rubber"...because he's had some work done.

But, whatever way it happens, I doubt we'll see Old Man Joyboy. He'll probably look as old as Garp, at the oldest. Unless that's the tragedy of it all. Joyboy didn't fail because his plan was flawed. Joyboy failed because he grew too old to actually see it through. Joyboy waited to long. That'd be a interesting story. But, I'm not sure if it's one Oda wants to tell. Especially since it might hit a little too close to home, with his own health problems. Chances are, even if we see a Old Man Joyboy, he'll still be pretty vital up until the moment of his death.
