considering vajra is from hindi mythology , i will say his trident is also from shiva and not poseidon as many speculated ( poseidon was related to water so many people thought the trident is for the water element like sukuna has fire and now electric )

shiva's trident contains all the power of the universe and it can destroy any physical manifestation
it is a symbol of his superiority over other dimensions
These are the only things i got from researching it

and i also got to know that shiva can create multiple arms
so i guess most of sukuna's inspiration came from the hindu mythology

I genuinely think Gege originally wanted Megumi vs Gojo but realized he couldn’t actually power up Megumi that much so instead made up a Sukuna plot line lol

I won’t rule out Sukuna not having his Trident as it was shown on the Yoruzu flashback while Vajra wasn’t and she went out of her way to create said fool so she must’ve had knowledge it was lost or broken.
