Thanks! That film looked great in motion, zoomed out gif on my phone- not so much. I kept thinking it was a scene from Devil May Cry, most likely 2 since I didn't know it by heart, and Dmc is pretty Weeb.
Other day I went down the rabbit hole of smoking a tad much to dive into h.s years w the dmc hd collection, had the epiphany that Dmc was Dark Souls before D.S
Gothic horror
Large interwoven world, you technically have access to entire castle in 3 for a level or two
Known as "that hardcore japanese game" for a while, and had a niche,but dedicated, zealot like fans.
Either invented a subgenre or re-invented the wheel and became the blueprint of a genre.
Pretty vague with lore, enemies, worldbuilding. You get some over the top action scenes and a more defined narrative in Dmc than D.S, however 90% of the information is tucked away in menus and art.
Has several even more grueling difficulties than the already brutal normal mode via NG+. Fun fact: devil may cry 3 was so difficult that Dmc3:Dantes Awakening relabeled D.a's "normal" as Vanilla's "easy"," Hard" is what "normal" was, v hard lets it catch up to hard , iirc, then difficulties as they were.
This may tie in with difficulty, but an actual sense of pride&progression after learning a Boss attack patterns, counter window and finally emerging victorious after hours.
