Character Discussion Kaido Knew Much More Than We Thought. Oda Fumbled Hard.

Hmmm idk about that bro, Zoro has a King of Hell, 3-sword serpent technique, and has no clue about any of this. King of Hell: Serpent - Serpent of Hell, three-swords = three worlds

So I don't think there's much there in terms of story wise behind that name. Other than homage to Kaido's potential bloodline relation to the Ancient Giants, the true Onis.
Kaido’s attack is Norse themed though.

That when combined with the name scheme pretty much guarantees a connection.

Why tie so much of Kaido's lore to stuff that you couldn't reveal in Wano, is Oda's writing really this incompetent?
Much of his backstory involves Xebec who most likely told him everything. This is the main reason I believe Oda wanted to keep it for Rocks flashback so we're gonna see more of Kaido and why he was depressed. Luffy fans will be in suicide watch if it happens because we've seen how he let himself go when he found Joyboy and never took the fight seriously.

I also think the Oni race were like buccaneers who were nuked by Imu and Kaido was the last few survivor taken by humans who used him as super soldier then chased by WG.

This is still questionable writing.

A major 10 year villain’s backstory shouldn’t be saved for many arcs after their time

Don't worry, large % of fanbase is terminally diagnosed with hype and aura so all of it will be forgotten when his flashback gets revealed then Oda will be applauded for being a genius. That's how he keeps getting away with it.

It's not "his" backstory it's a major historical event. Kaido doesn't need a full backstory to be effective, and in fact it would not be good writing for Oda to make kaido sympathetic before he loses and contradict all the bad stuff he did for the last 40 years. It's not bad writing to give kaido a sympathetic or understandable side but that should wait until after he's beaten in Wano.

The idea of kaido being a person who started with good intentions and dreams and then started doing these horrible things after getting depressed and trapped is interesting, but he's a major villain. Even if he had a tragic backstory the important thing in Wano is the factories ruining the land, the slavery, the starvation etc. It would be bad writing to give him a babyface turn right before he gets beaten.

Now that he's defeated it's possible to see him as a human being

The complexity of Kaidou's character only increases, I wonder how much the king of wisdom knew?
A mind ahead of the others, the most intriguing character in this show without a doubt.

Destroy the world to free the demons from hell so he could solo them all, damn monster.

Exactly. Imagine Kaido thinking he could overthrow Imu and co. with a bunch of useless gifters that Aramaki alone could wrap up in an hour
:kailaugh:
Kaidou didn't think he could, that's why he formed an alliance with Big Mom with the aim of conquering the world(Big Mom suggested the alliance but he accepted), he moved Onigashima to the capital to increase and further enslave the people to obtain faster resources, make Onigashima a fortress pirate in which pirates from all over the world would call a pirate's paradise (thus increasing the recruitment of soldiers and pirates for their army), obtain ancient weapons to cause chaos, fear and destruction to this world.

Kaido had an attack called Conqueror of Three Worlds - Ragnaraku

Three worlds huh?

And Ragnarok...

Why tie so much of Kaido's lore to stuff that you couldn't reveal in Wano, is Oda's writing really this incompetent?

@Elder Lee Hung @Kurozumi Wiwi @SakazOuki @MarineHQ @The White Crane @The DevilMaster @MonsterKaido @Shiroyru @Owl Ki @L57 @TheKnightOfTheSea
Because Kaido is tied to the greater lore through his possible ancient giant heritage.
We have yet to meet other giant countries, so far Elbaf is the only one we really got introduced to.

I think it's really fucking funny that Kaido is supposedly a non-human race but there's literally exactly one line about it in the middle of a fight and it never goes anywhere or amounts to anything

:MonkeWhat:
Oda should have rearranged Onigashima, Egghead and Elbaf. Vegapunk's whole bs pointless speech is redundant and most of egghead was pointless, then cut away the incessant running in Onigashima/Wano, remove some unnecessary side characters and Egghead could have been a short intermediary arc, leading up to Elbaf after just a few chapters . Wano and Onigashima could have been one actual arc instead of two.

Or have Wano be one arc and Onigashima/egghead a combined one.

We'd still be in wano right now if Oda did a deep dive into Kaido's background and what lore he might have
The problem is that instead of plot relevant information we got cringe running, eternal Oden flashbacks, unnecessary Sumo plots. And whatever clusterfuck the whole Kurozumi plotline was could have been streamlined. I don't even remember how otter the traitor guy almost died and came back to do some more betrayal.

All the Rocks pirates know more than most about the true history.

But yeah, it badly fucked up Kaido’s arc on Wano when Oda refused to reveal all this stuff because he’s saving it for a bigger Rocks flashback.
