Koby defeating Kuzan is not mutually exclusive with Kuzan not going down as a member of the Blackbeard Pirates.

I don't think anyone believes Kuzan is with Blackbeard because he's a true believer. That doesn't mean he's not an adversary. An adversary doesn't have to be a villainous figure either.

The setup for confrontation is pretty obvious on this point.

I don't know why people assume Koby is motivated by something so small as revenge? I certainly don't.

Kuzan has his principles of justice, and so does Koby.

The confrontation between Garp's disciplines will be about that, not petty vengeance.

There are hints.
Though, I am not sold on Koby vs Kuzan as a final fight with Kuzan going down. I am more, for now, set on a fight with no decisive winner after the recente developments.
We know Kuzan wasn't really trying to kill Garp and anyway all the Kuzan-Koby plot lost a good chunk of its narrarive force when Garp was seen alive.

Though, if Kuzan has to be defeated, I don't see any other than Koby doing it. Unless Oda Isn't going for a super improbable Akainu vs Kuzan 2.0.

Luffy could have been, but doesn't have the reason anymore.
