Theory Law's Devil Fruit Counters Armament Haki

I had 2 theories on how Law's cutting abilities work

1.) is that he basically uses his fruit in tandem with his sword in a similar way haki is used on swords. If he can't cut something with his strength & swordsmanship then his ability won't work but if he can cut something with his physical stats/sword the ability keeps that thing alive. This would explain why Vergo was reluctant to dodge Laws attack, as he was confident Law wouldn't be able to cut through him.

2.) He can cut anything with his ability and the only way to avoid it is to dodge with CoO or block him from actually landing a sword slash (which is what DD did in this panel)

We can see here how Smoker deflects all of Law's room attacks with his own haki, ie "Tashigi, you won't be able to take it with your level of haki" and then proceeds to block the attack that sliced up a marine battleship coated with seastone (which is as hard as diamond) underneath

and as we see here again, Smoker deflects an attack that ends up slicing the battleship in half which are, again, all laced with seastone, meaning that Smoker's seastone jitte wasn't itself the counter but his haki. Smoker also highlights this right before Tashigi gets cut. As such Smoker showcases greater CoA than Law

Meaning that Law's ability bypasses any durability, and the only wat to actually avoid being sliced up is to divert Law's sword (form which the attack emanates) with a level of haki that must be superior to Law's own level of haki, or you'll be sliced just like Tashigi was. Smoker could do this because his level of armament is higher than that of Law's. This is how could avoid being sliced up.

So vergo was cut cause he jumped straight into the slice instead of trying to deflect it ?
Or is vergos coa < smokers ?

Read the manga, chapter 690 where Vergo states his superiority with armament. Then read chapter 662 where Smoker parries and deflects all of Law's room slashes.
and for bonus you can read chapter 681 where Vergo trolldiffs Sanji.
Thats not what im asking.
Youre saying laws coa is worse than smokers yet he was never cut.
And vergos is better than smokers yet he was cut
So why is that ? Is it because vergo jumped into the slash like a dumbass?

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. If Smoker had jumped it the same way he’d been cut up the same way. Only by applying haki to Law’s sword and redirecting it can you avoid being sliced. When Tashigi did that she failed bc Law’s armament haki is better, so she was sliced up on the spot. When Smoker did it he successfully parried and deflected all his attacks. Smoker in fact totally dominated Law physically because of it, so Law’s only chance of winning was using a cheat to steal his heart

Which fits because whilst i think laws coa is probably > doffys. Doffy never gave law a chance to do what he did to vergo by fighting an aggressive fight and pressuring him.

Doffy’s CoA was actually so good he could maintain his block against Luffy’s Kong Gun, unlike Katakuri whose guard was washed by the same attack performed in the exact same manner, ie him using block mochi. DD also casually while laughing his ass off kicks through Luffy’s block (this was before Gamma Knife which ruptured his internal organs). I suspect his hand being cut up has to do with the actual effects of Law’s ability. Remember that Luffy was passed out from fighting DD and needed 3 days to fully recover, Mansherry was there to actually aid in recovery. his first round with DD he was a wad of cookie dough and could barely stand up. Doffy’s CoA was exceptionally good, and Vergo’s was portrayed to be even better.

Doffys coa is dogshit.
It broke grabbing laws sword. Which isnt graded nor clad in haki.

Doffy's and Luffy's CoA didn't overpower one another when their kicks met. Same Haki of Luffy that withstood a Haki imbued thrust from Cracker.

So either Doffy didn't activate his CoA in time and Law's blade hence cut Doffy's bare hand, or Doffy's grab is simply on the level of Sabo's talons.

nope none of them have great coa, the only time crackers coa broke luffys was when he used his actual sword pretzel
luffys isnt any better its been broken or stated to be weaker than all his opponents post time skip bar cesar.

Smoker redirects Law's slashes using haki. If you redirect the sword from which the cutting power emanates then you can avoid getting sliced. Did Law have his room up against Hawkins? At any rate, Smoker being able to redirect Law's attack using haki, so Idk why this took people 8 years to figure out.
No Smokers weapon is made out of seastone, thats how he was able to counter laws attacks.Law even said it himself, he felt the seastone energy. There was no haki involved in that Law vs Smoker fight until Law took smokers heart.

No, seastone can be cut. Marine battleships are laced with seastone underneath, and see how the marine battleships were sliced in half. Smoker used haki. The seastone is on the tip of the blade. In their very first clash of their blades, does he block Law with the tip or not?

I see, your actually right.... nice catch. The seastone is on the tip of the jitte. And there is seastone at the bottom of marine ships. Smoker likely was using haki on his weapon to block laws attacks Seems like if you put haki on a weapon or an external source you can actually block Laws attacks. Infact Doflamingo actually never blocked Laws "room" slashes with his actual body, but instead used haki on the strings to counter. But smoker and hawkins are proof that just being able to block Laws attacks is not enough to actually defeat Law in a 1v1 confrontation.
