Luffy and BlackBeard rivals? Nah dude.
Luffy has rivals like Trafalgar and Kid. Even tho kid right now is not so impresive, they do indeed try to compete with eath other every time they meet. Same with Tralafgar, even tho you can say that he works for Luffy now, he also is trying to compete with Luffy.
This cant be said about Black beard.
Black beard is just another yonko that Luffy must defeat.
There was never a rivalry between them(only that eating contest, but that was more like a gag, Luffy would try to compete with everyone if its for food).
Luffy was always inferiour to him, and they meet only 2 times. Both times were not in rivalry scenarious.
So yeah, get your bb shit outha here, because for sure he is not a rival of Luffy, he is just an obstacle/enemy.
And yeah BB is from the same „generation„ like Luffy, but lets not forget how this generation started, and that it is based only on the bounties over 100m who were in sabaody at that time, meaning jack shit.
BB is in his 40+ and in the same league as shanks, Shanks is even younger than him. And they are not rivals, BB and shanks are enemies, just like bb and Luffy.
Comparing Luffy with BB, based on the „same generation„ argument isnt a smart move, especialy when it comes to rivalry.
You can argue that they are rivals for one piece, like Luffy and Kaido, but so are the majority of nw pirates. This isnt the point tho.

Blackbeard is luffy's rival. They had interactions in the past, they even clashed and we have seen Blackbeard reacting to Luffy's actions.
However he never gave a fuck about the other members of his generations. He seems to think Luffy one day might be an obstacle.
Law and Kidd are friendly competitors. Law trusts Luffy and Luffy trusts Law, they are like friends. And I'm pretty sure by the end of the arc, Kidd will respect Luffy, and there will be a gap in power between them.

The term ‘Supernova’ has literally been made irrelevant post timeskip because Oda wanted to emphasise that Blackbeard and Luffy are in the same generation. Hence, “Worst Generation.”
Take Kid out of the story and nothing changes- reflection of how the Supernova were not intended. Take Blackbeard out of the story and everything changes, cause this guy has been planned from the start and is going to be key to the end.
Compare the crews, Kid has Killer as a Zoro analogue. And two guys that have been named in a Databook and have never been focused on in the slightest. Whereas Blackbeard has his Ten Titan Captains who have been built for every Strawhat.
End of the day I doubt Luffy is ever going to fight Kid, making him a rather pathetic rival.
