Fujitora can use gravity on his air slashes to pressure his opponent far better like he demonstrated it against Sabo.
Once again, never denied that Fujitora can do such moves without his sword. Mihawk can perform his swordsmanship with a dagger as well. Doesn't mean that he can perform the same strength like his main sword.

It is what we have seen AND what he is called. Mihawk considered him to be his rival and guess what? He did no longer consider him as a rival after Shanks was crippled.

I would bet Shanks has some unique power to channel the power of CoC with his sword. And his equal confrontations with Mihawk was before he learned that power.
Or, his sword also has some DF.
